Back on topic. I wish BYD Dolphin get a face lift. It should look like Seagull but bigger. Somehow for a car costing twice of seagull it looks like it cost half.

BYD was not good at designing from the beginning, they have two good looking products: HAN and seal, and they fucked up the paint color on seal(4WD version).
If you really want a durable and nice looking car in a reasonable price , I’d strongly suggest ChangAn SL-03 and Ora good cat, and a smart #1 is available with 10KUSD more

Horizon Robotics signed up another customer here with WeRide. They are really taking the entire autonomous market in China at this pace. I'm glad that Chinese EV companies are increasingly picking them instead of Nvidia. There is just too much risk there. Big thumbs down to Zeekr and NIO.

As I posted here, I think the significance of Huahong's new fab is that the chips used in smart cars are increasingly moving to 40nm process. That has required recalibration of what they are producing. Without such a pull, no reason for Huahong to spend so much more Capex on tooling.

Wouldn't such a decision be made by a board/committee? Could he really block such a deal by himself alone?

Maybe someday CATL will start to build cars and becomes another vertically integrated automaker like BYD.

Posted my thoughts on Japanese automakers continued efforts to get into hydrogen FCEV even though the market has spoke otherwise. It's not that hydrogen fuel cell does not work, but rather there is no viable path here for it to work in the EV market. It still has a lot of usage in other fields like shipping, airplane and other industries that would be very hard to decarbonize.

Maybe FCEV still had hope when everybody thought there was going to be a long term problem with lithium and other rare materials for batteries

But with new innovations like sodium batteries in advanced stages of development, I think FCEVs are truly dead now
