Seize the means of reproduction

Is this niubidaren alt? Jk.

Back on topic. I wish BYD Dolphin get a face lift. It should look like Seagull but bigger. Somehow for a car costing twice of seagull it looks like it cost half.
BYD was not good at designing from the beginning, they have two good looking products: HAN and seal, and they fucked up the paint color on seal(4WD version).
If you really want a durable and nice looking car in a reasonable price , I’d strongly suggest ChangAn SL-03 and Ora good cat, and a smart #1 is available with 10KUSD more

BYD in Japan getting ready to start the sale of Atto 3 going through final PDI testing

BYD in Japan with J6 getting ready to start service in Osaka

Horizon Robotics signed up another customer here with WeRide. They are really taking the entire autonomous market in China at this pace. I'm glad that Chinese EV companies are increasingly picking them instead of Nvidia. There is just too much risk there. Big thumbs down to Zeekr and NIO.

As I posted here, I think the significance of Huahong's new fab is that the chips used in smart cars are increasingly moving to 40nm process. That has required recalibration of what they are producing. Without such a pull, no reason for Huahong to spend so much more Capex on tooling.

Youngkin intervened because of the involvement of CATL, a Chinese battery manufacturer and one of the biggest producers of EV batteries in the world. “While Ford is an iconic American company, it became clear that this proposal would serve as a front for the Chinese Communist party, which could compromise our economic security and Virginians’ personal privacy,” a spokesperson for the governor

There is a long history of politicians cutting off their nose to spite their face, but Youngkin seems determined to obstruct economic growth in his own state to appear more anti-China than his rivals as he vies for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.

BYD is like GWM in 2020, too much expansion isn’t going to do any good , especially in 2020s
I’m not saying they are going down immediately, but over time , they wouldn’t be able to lead the competition like this for too long.
It’s like shared bicycles in 2016, any sensible people had their doubts, then they came up with shared cars, that’s where BYD is now, and what’s next? Sharing wives?

Competition from Nio, GAC and Geely will take over the market in China and other countries.

CNBC's take on TOYOTA's supposed reluctance on embracing EV. The core message is that batter tech is not fully mature to compete on equal footing with ICE vehicles. Battery charging stations in America would require 1.8 million plus 28 million private chargers to meet U.S. government's objective of 50% EV penetration by 2030. There are still parts of the world that do not even have access to electricity 5% of which are in ASEAN countries and apparently including China. Bottom line, according to this video that ICE vehicles will still be made for decades to come beyond the self-imposed ban that countries made on stopping to produce ICE vehicles.

The next Nokia.

Wouldn't such a decision be made by a board/committee? Could he really block such a deal by himself alone?

Maybe someday CATL will start to build cars and becomes another vertically integrated automaker like BYD.
