The democrats really bow down to the auto unions. As such, GM and Ford are favored over Tesla and Lucid. Musk complains about it bitterly. Too bad for Tesla, the Republicans now think switching to EVs is helping China, so they are going to try even harder to stop the movement away from ICE cars. I hold on to my view that long term, Tesla and Ford will be the remaining automakers.

On Zeekr 009, I've seen its pictures compared to other MPVs: Denza D9, Hongqi HM9. 009 looks far and away the ugliest. Who is going to buy it? D9 looks pretty cool. The others look normal. The Zeekr designers need to go back to the drawing board.

Hefei's new base for Yuan+ entered production. This is a RHD production line will be here. It is currently producing 200 a day, which means just about 6000 a month (not a lot yet). The new Zhengzhou base might also produce Yuan+. Very high demand for Yuan+ domestically and internationally.

For the first week of August (Aug 1st to 7th)
96k NEV sold 27% penetration rate
30.3k BYD
6.7k Tesla
5.4k ChangAn
4.5k GAC Aion
3.8k Geely

So Tesla not selling that many in China despite full rate production at Shanghai. BYD is blowing everyone away, but unlikely to crack 200k this month, maybe 180k.

See the video here
BYD says it has 4 major industries: electronics, rail transit, new energy and automobiles. Interesting they have included rail transit as one of their main areas recently. We know they've been involve in some sky rail project. I wonder if that means they are going harder into it now.

Geely sold 32k nev in July, what models do they sell?
Geely group is huge. It has Zeekr, Volvo, Polestar, Farizon. all sell NEVs

This might be as official as it gets for a while. BYD to deliver blade battery to Tesla Berlin plant soon. I see on Chinese social media that this is still low rate production and that things won't get ramped up until Q4. Makes sense since Tesla Berlin production is pretty low.

Now entry level model 3 also seeing reduced wait time despite the fact that most of the production are getting exported.

Yutong îs the world's largest maker of electric bus, I think. Makes sense for them to continue their partnership with CATL.

Koreans article about just how much their battery makers and automakers are dependent on Chinese supply chain. Again, it seems to me in the past year, Korean businesses have only become more intertwined with Chinese economy.
