Regarding BYD seal. It's the first car using E 3.0 platform and CTB technology and BEV blade battery 2.0. Calling internally as EB platform, whereas both Yuan+ and Dolphin are EA (I believe Dolphin AKA EA1). This new technology will be used in 6 models, including Sea Lion and Denis's SUV.

Denza will have 2 new SUV types this year and off roader.

Frigate 07 and destroyer 07 will be all new models developed with export in mind.

BYD's smart driving system has complete low, medium, high levels. Medium/high level automation will quickly be introduced. Huge progress if this is true.

I posted this a few days ago, but now CnEVPost caught onto it

new commercial vehicle plant in Huai'an. Again, BYD just building factories everywhere.

Normally don't post on e-bikes, but Niu technology is a big players in its various fields. Will be launching e-bikes with sodium-ion batteries to keep cost down. I think this will be the trend for lower end cars in the future.

I'm not sure when the articles will start to come out, but there was an unveiling of BYD partnership with River earlier today. Here is the Facebook feed on this

They are ready to invest 20 billion THB ($561 million) for a 100k plant that will also export to Europe and rest of ASEAN countries. 17.3 billion THB is for the factory itself and 2.3 billion THB is for sales and after-sale servicing.

The key model in Thailand is the Dolphin. At Bangkok motor show, BYD will be tied with GWM as having the largest show space at 1849 sqm.

From today?

This is good to see. Chinese ambassador in Indonesia tweeting Wuling Hanging mini EV that are locally assembled in Indonesia. Quite a lot of them in there.

This is great, Chinese suppliers may be behind Tesla's nickel deal with Indonesia. So, Tesla will continue to rely on Chinese supply chain. And Tesla will probably not build any factory in Indonesia.

After Tesla's Shanghai giga factory output got increased, the RWD delivery time decreased to 8 to 12 weeks (from 10 to 14). Again, my impression is that the demand for Tesla in China isn't as strong as it was a year ago. Not a good sign for Tesla.

Baidu's robotaxi continue to make more progress with regulators

Another thing to look at is Avatar 11. Very nice looking car. This is what you are afraid of if you are BYD. Existing Chinese automakers all move to using CATL batteries and Huawei drive train and possibly self driving technology. Now you are no longer competing against automakers, but against CATL and Huawei. That's a lot harder to win. As I've said before, Huawei is BYD's biggest future competitor.
There is always advantage for doing everything in house. You can integrate your products better. You can achieve significant cost savings. However, you are often not going to be using the best subcomponents. It takes tremendous zeal to be at the forefront of car design, car manufacture, battery technology, electric drive train, Dual motors and automated driving.

Denza X - believed to be inspiring the new SUVs that will come out of Denza. This was designed a couple of years ago, before Denza JV was re-oriented to be 90% BYD. In this case, BYD learnt a lot from Benz in designing a car. I would say that in a JV where both side learns, the Chinese side will win, since it moves faster coming out of that JV. With this JV and the German car designers they hired, BYD now is able to design very luxurious looking vehicles.

Yeah, I would say that there are so many amazing looking cars coming out, some of the well known ones really have to step up their game.

XPeng is unveiling G9. This is their 4th model after G3i, P7 and P5. They are badly needing a game changer here to reverse their momentum. Remember how much great press Li Auto got with L9? Well, Xpeng needs an L9 type of blockbuster soon.

More on Wuling in Indonesia.. The new Air EV that they designed for international market is the one that's being produced in Indonesia. This will be featured prominently in the G20 meeting in Indonesia. As such, this is very important for the China/Indonesia relationship.

Geely doing well this month. More importantly, it's EV unit is gaining. I think Geely unfortunately missed out on the EV revolution. It's moved too slowly, but who knows.

The climate bill from America is trying so hard to decouple from China that it will likely have the effect of just slowing down US EV industry development. The American politicians just don't get it.
