New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China

Zeekr are Lync built on new Geely platforms not related to volvo at all. It is volvo that is using Geely platforms.
They all use the same SEA platform for a lot of the new vehicles. Im actually looking to buy another Volvo so I'm doing research. SEA was developed in Sweden mostly by Volvo engineers. Too bad can't get a zeekr 1 in Canada.

Waiting for Carney to make some good decisions next week.

Carney will probably cut import tax on Chinese cars to less than 10%, in return for China buying canola from Canada.
A Zeekr 9X suv with over 1200hp would be nice for you.

I am thinking there will be a high base price set for Chinese EVs, plus small tariff, to protect US/Japan cars.

There will inevitably some tariffs/price floors, there are still enough auto plants in Ontario that he can't fully commit. However, at the same time there is a total lack of affordable EVs in Canada and the majority of people no longer support the Biden/USA diktat of 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs.

I am hoping that there will be a BYD Shark in my future so I can be a Chinese-North American redneck.

I got a Volvo xc60 right now and will probably upgrade to a xc90 soon. I really want a zeekr 1 for a commuter/grocery run car.

I'm pretty sure the tariffs won't come down right away. And probably do a minimum price like the Europeans. But even with a higher price the value for chinese cars are so good right now it doesn't make a difference. And just means bigger profit for Geely.

Zeekr and Lync &co are most likely first official chinese cars to come to Canada just because they can take advantage of the Volvo/polestar network
