The new Tuo-Chiang class corvette Ta-Ching has formally entered ROCN service on July 27. According to the Taiwanese navy, not only does Ta-Ching mark the first small-sized vessel in ROCN service with anti-air capabilities, the new Ta-Chiang is also expected to achieve full combat capabilities starting next month. Due to the new practice of outsourcing component manufacturing to private companies, Ta-Chiang is able to enter service 5 months earlier than the original estimated date.

A new highlight is that the new HC-2N AA missiles are equipped with thrust-vectoring rocket boosters to increase its maneuverability.

According to ROCN officials the ROCN aims to build six additional vessels of the same class before 2023.

had a quick look at his wiki page, he is unlikely to be someone that holds much influence. but what he says is a possibility. if invasions were to happen, part of taiwan forces could melt away, and it is definitely reasonable for some to switch sides, especially isolated ones on Kinmen.

Given that he's arguably committed treason according to Taiwanese laws, my guess the latter. Someone with influence who was actually a turncoat would keep his or her feelings secret until a Chinese attack was under way.

He did not commit treason because he did not sell out to a foreign country constitutionally. At worst, he just has a different political stand.
You can't commit treason in a civil war? I'm pretty sure that if tsar russians supported communist it would be treason.

But in this case you could argue that it's DPP that commits treason because they don't want unification.

this guy has no influence, and this is not his first time making remarks in favour of CCP. the problem for Taiwan is while the thought of turning on DPP has no market, in time of war if things go south it could become an option real quick. if i were a battalion commander in a taiwanese army unit, and my comms are jammed while i am under attack, i will definitely seriously consider surrendering, hopefully before my flanking units do.

All the young people are DPP supporters. No matter what happens KMT is finished as an organization in one or two generations.

I actually hope the corrupt KMT evaporates. But if it does the DPP, who reportedly are also rather corrupt, may not be the only option for Taiwanese. If/when the mainland takes over, what do you think of the CPC's chances of winning over the islanders, especially the younger ones?
