Yea but unsupported software will not be secure and prone to issues as you try to update with new features.
Sure but not more or less secure then the current runtime. Still it's 2020 and still using flash is a bad thing.

But it's not that different then here in the west there are more then enough financial institution that are running old and insecure software stacks.

I love how this article at the end has to explain China educating its people is not a crime. What is a crime though is China being innovative despite how for decades they've been teaching their people how Chinese are incapable of innovation thus it makes them look wrong.
Haha, I was watching a video on Space Race 2.0 between US and China and one "expert" interviewed said China has advantage in that their political system allows the entire resources of the society to be directed at specific key problems in ways that can't be done in the US. Then he immediately goes on to say "yeah but on the other hand, as far as we know innovation requires bottom up freedom of thought which they don't have over there, so don't count out the US just yet."

I would roll my eyes at that but then again, they've been wrong about everything else about China, so why not on this matter too.

The irony is the West is afraid of Chinese advancements because they think Chinese have no ethical or moral boundaries aka freedom to do anything they want. So what kind of freedom are they talking about that China lacks? It's the lie they tell that China needs political freedom which has nothing to do with actually science unless it's like imposing their morals and ethics. The crossbow was invented in China. When it reached Europe, it was seen as such a game-changing weapon upsetting their order, the Vatican banned it. It's no different from how they think they can regulate Chinese technology because they think China will abuse it. How can China abuse something they think Chinese aren't capable of doing?
