TikTok: Trump questions Oracle deal if ByteDance keeps stake
President warns any agreement to continue operating in US must be ‘100% as far as national security is concerned’

Donald Trump has questioned plans by the Chinese tech firm ByteDance to keep a majority stake in TikTok’s US operations as part of a

“Conceptually I can tell you that I don’t like that,” Trump told a news conference when asked about a reported proposal to give Oracle only a minority share. “I’m not prepared to sign off on anything. They’re going to be reporting to me tomorrow morning and I’ll let you know.”

Trump said he would be briefed on Thursday about a proposal that calls for Oracle to become a “trusted technology provider” for TikTok’s American operations, but he did not favour the idea of having the Chinese firm retain control.

“It has to be 100% as far as national security is concerned,” Trump said. “I have to see the deal.”

Also, lol

The president also expressed surprise that Washington could not demand payment from the companies in exchange for approving any agreement. “Amazingly I find that you’re not allowed to do that,” he said. “What kind of a thing is this?”

China will likely dig its heels and be ready for the shootout because as media has mentioned China would rather Tiktok get banned in the US than give any upperhand to trump,,remember he initiated the whole thing, so China is likely to scuttle any deal.

Just call his bluff on it. That's what I've been proposing for several posts. He isn't gonna risk ticking off all the TikTok users right before election.

Exactly. Trump actually set the decline of US tech. For China, it doesn't really matter if Tiktok is banned in India, US etc.. there are 7 billions ppl on earth, so there are still +4 billions more out there lol..
Psychologically, trump is programming into the brain of all ppl on earth: "US is falling behind now and that's why I'm taking these steps: Huawei, tiktok, WeChat etc" The real effect is: ppl will abandon the "US-influenced ship"

First the US, then Taiwan, then South Korea and Japan, now even Chinese chipmakers are teaming up against Huawei. Behold, the power of the United States.
I behold a broken country that can't even stop the 5G power of a single company whilst turning itself into a cheerleader for European 5G rivals because it can no longer compete or innovate its own telecom technology. I behold a United States that no longer has confidence in its own power to rise and thus has resorted to depleting its bag of tricks to buy time. I behold an America that is feverishly hacking down its final blade into scrap metal in its desperate panic to keep down a single company and a China that is poised to forge and sharpen its own sword from the broken pieces.

And I behold a person with poor reading comprehension and no spine to stand up. Nobody is teaming up against Huawei; they are pulled back from working with Huawei as they look for solutions, especially Chinese companies like SMIC, but even American companies like Qualcomm.

HI gadgetcool5,

Huawei will be the VANGUARD of CCP IC development. Lets wait, if Huawei succeed all others will follow, its obvious for CHINA, Huawei is too big and too important to fail.

Some questions for you.

1) who is still number #1 in 5G in this world?

2) how many years is China ahead of the United States in implementing standalone 5G networks?

3) given the results of the Trump initiated trade war with China, how confident are you in the Trump initiated tech war with China?

4) this is the most important question, why does the world leading US semi-conductor companies does not support the Trump tech war against China and SMIC specifically? Maybe these world leading US semiconductor companies know nothing? Could be the case, the US President knows everything. Haha!
