NIO delivers 10,878 cars in September. Not a lot of ET5, but that's expected to change in Q4

XPeng continues to be weak in September and not even 30k in Q3. They won't last another 2 years imo.

Li Auto did okay. Q3 has been lower due to the shift from L1 to L9 and other models.

on the other hand, Neta is over 18k in September. It's funny how the non-"premium" brands are doing so well. This is pretty impressive production increase at Neta. They've gone from 11k at beginning of the year to 18k a month now.

There is an alternative path through Central Asia.

Errr, the alternative route won’t work for some time unless Armenia and Azerbaijan drop their mutual animosity.

Related to that, it is also why BYD’s aggressive supply chain and lateral expansion makes it a stand out. They are probably the only car company globally that controls their distribution by owning their own marine car carrier fleet - could be risky, but the make or break attitude is simply unmatched by others.

This is happening. VW before that. Tesla China Team also has some of it. The trend is going toward digital R&D and EV integration in China. I expect BBA+GM+Ford+Tesla will more or less have a significant R&D unit in China. This is a fundamental shift in automobile industry. Car design is important, but not all that. EV+Digital is as important. I expect China to become the largest and strongest automobile industry+market by the end of this decade. If Europe cannot get itself untangled from the war soon, that scenario will only materialize faster.

I am very disappointed with SAIC. I grew up watching this car.

End of the story ......

SAIC JVs with VW and GM have bees so sweet to bureaucracies in Shanghai that SAIC has been falling behind in the EV transition. Wan Gang is a Shanghainese. SAIC was the domestic leader for a long time. It is unforgivable that it would be falling so far behind BYD. SAIC is the case study in "why JV is not a long term solution in any industry" (My Trademark).

China is on track to be the world's largest car exporter with over 3 million vehicles every year. In a worst case scenario, BYD could sell or lease out its car carrier fleet which probably has capacity for 0.5 million vehicles.
