Okay, but it turns out that this sub-brand's sales figures are added to two companies (platforms) simultaneously. That's incorrect.
You are misunderstanding. Company is not equal to platform.

HIMA is not a formal company. When I say platform, it is like “Linux platform”, a framework that can be used by different companies (ie. Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.), but the primary developer is the Linux Foundation.

HIMA doesn’t actually own any of those brands, so those but this chart is just breaking it out that way for people interested.

Luxeed is actually owned by Chery.

Stelato is also listed “twice”. The actual owner is BAIC.

Yeah cars are more expensive in most developed countries and countries outside China than in China where the competition is fierce . If you sell your vehicle at a high price in China chances are you will lose sales and your competitors will eat into your market . Very few brands in China can afford to sell at a high price(exceptions of brands with high brand value like Tesla, Xiaomi, Huaweis brands etc) and not have their sales suffer as a result. So most brands try as much as possible to cut cost and remain competitive even with very low profitability but they can regain some of this cost by selling outside China at higher cost and making more profits , reason more and more Chinese auto companies are venturing overseas with massive investments and sales which is a good thing IMO. Chinese market is just too competitive and price bloody, so much that the government even had to intervene at some point. Hopefully, there will be more consolidation soon this coming years .

Surprised an Israel is still so open towards Chinese cars giving the hostile relationship between both sides recently. Would have thought they would have followed US policy under US pressure to put high tariffs on Chinese cars like Mexico was forced to do recently or even put specific tariffs on Chinese brands like Europe did . Seems Israel is still rather pragmatic/rational /open when it comes to business. Not bad . Not surprise they are one of the only developed country in their region of the world .

The current market caps of Honda and Hyundai are approx. $52 billion and $54 respectively. Notice that in the top 10 rankings below, the market value of legacy automakers, except Toyota, are relatively low, especially for VW, considering it's the world's top 2 automakers based on global sales. For those who are curious, CATL's current market cap is about $248 billion, similar to Toyota. Since Xiaomi is in the ranking, one might wonder about Huawei. Huawei is a private company not listed on any stock market. Its value is estimated to be $128 billion - $1 trillion. I feel that $128 billion is an underestimation.

FAW Hongqi shows off its first solid-state battery EV

Ro, 04 January 2026

The FAW Hongqi automaker group in China just announced its first prototype EV equipped with a solid-state battery, the next-generation tech that almost all car manufacturers are now exploring.
FAW Hongqi shows off its first solid-state battery EV

On December 31, the automaker successfully installed the in-house developed solid-state battery on the Tiangong 06 prototype vehicle.
Unfortunately, the company didn't release any details such as energy density or the maximum range of the vehicle.
Still, Hongqi says that the current implementation represents a milestone as it was able to overcome a number of technological, engineering and material challenges.
In any case, the data so far suggest that a fully operational EV with a solid-state battery can run for up to 1,000 km on a single charge. In fact, Dongfeng Motor already claimed it will bring the first mass-produced EV with a solid-state battery delivering 1,000 km range.
Other manufacturers aren't sitting on the sidelines, though. BYD and CATL are also expected to deliver solid-state battery-powered vehicles in the foreseeable future, but they are focusing on small-scale vehicles for now. We will likely see the first units sometime in 2027.
