In English:

From Hu Xijin. It basically says the number of PLA dead is far less than that of the Indians on June 15 and that some of the PLA fought to the last breath, with none captured. Then reinforcements arrived and counterattacked, causing massive Indian casualties (i.e. falling into icy river, down cliffs, surrendering). Credits to the translation go to Song Hong. If the translation is missing any key components, feel free to tack on. Personally I'm not sure of this account since it contradicts other Chinese sources we've been hearing although Hu Xijin is still quite a credible source.

But is publicly recognizing martyrs just aimed at MSM and India though? The citizens of the PRC should know the names of the people who sacrificed their lives to go up against India, but instead are only kept in the shadows. Ordinary PLA soldiers defending the border should not be treated as some kind of special undercover operatives maintaining total opsec. If China did not release casualties for those people, it would make a lot more sense. Ultimately, soldiers killed in the line of action, especially against a nuisance like India, should garner the equal recognition as those killed in overseas UN operations or in training accidents domestically. Why is that so hard for the Chinese gov to do is my question? Do they think India will back off by not disclosing the figures ... if so I really question the soundness of Xi Jinping, who no doubt was the guy who made this decision.

Of course, then again Hu Xijin could be wrong but everything I wrote is under the assumption he is correct, which is somewhat likely at this point.
Right on. Not only the deads should be honor, but all those PLAs involved in that fight should receive a medal for killing 20 of the enemies.

Once in awhile, an Indian would revealed his true feelings about the whole matter. This comment was retrieved from YouTube. Now we know what is their true objective.

India never had a strategic vision and that is why we stumble from crisis to crises, since 1937. Liberation of tibet and Xinjiang is vital for India's survival. This may not happen in the next 10 years or even in 20 years but we must set a goal for our country to not just defend our territory but to ensure our water supplies.

Could it be that the recent announcement was because the implied fatality finally succumb to their/his/her injury? Hence, finally an acknowledgement.

I doubt it. Unless the said soldier suffered from brain death and was kept on life support for four months.

I think the main reason is that the CCP gave up on trying to reduce tension with the Indians. Last time I checked Hu Xijin's weibo post reached #4 or #3 on most popular term on baidu search. This, coupled with the fact that China briefly raised the alert level to level two (level one being open war) after the gunfire incidence, could imply that the CCP might be using this as a caus bellis.

Hu's post was just to officially dispel the Indian random claims that Jai Hinds managed to kill more than 20 IA. The Jai Hinds have an ego based obligation to make themselves feel okay about the situation by convincing each other (with zero evidence) that the Indians killed more than 20 PLA. Hu's post is pretty much officially reminding them that the PLA suffer fewer (most likely MUCH less) than 20 deaths. He also reminded the Indians they had many captured while PLA had zero captured by Indians. That should give everyone a hint how one sided the fighting was.
