The West certainly does not require that. The reason for the West's actions is the hardline moves of the CPC. If China moved towards liberalization Huawei would be on the path towards hegemony in 5G right now. Most likely what will happen is India will overtake China and take leadership of the world order now. It's the CPC hardliners who have ruined China's chances.

Source: Have lived in the West for 30 years, studied their attitudes towards outsiders closely. Half of them truly believe in idealistic principles that allow outsiders to succeed and lead. That would have been enough for an ambitious and capable country like China to take the reigns had it played its cards right and not pissed off even the liberal ones.

Many Hong Kong people who attended TI and 03 demonstration have regretted their involvement. As much as these brainwashed teenagers were causing damages to the society today, many of them will someday face the reality. They will wake up from their dream that the US would come to save them. In the end, they are powerless and would be discarded when no longer is relevant to Taiwan and the US.

Don't overthink these teenagers' resolve. They are cowards who hide behind masks and protect by those who want to incite violent in HK. If orders are restored in HK and HK is no longer a breeding ground for separatists, then they would not pose much of a threat to HK or China.

More like China needs to bow to the West and embrace all western ideology and never challenge the West. And like liberal such as Obama said, if Chinese live like the West, the world is doom so that means China should never be fully developed or be tech superpower. Liberals said that China is destroying the planet if China continued to develop. Better yet, China should allow Xinjiang, HK and Tibet to seek independent and does nothing. Maybe China needs to split up to 7 countries to appease the West. If that is still no enough, maybe China needs to have American troops station in its territory.

No one is preventing India to be the next superpower. It is India that prevented itself from being the next superpower. If CCP hardliners ruined China, then why China is the only country that stands a chance to challenge the western hegemony.

Quite an imagination there! I think even the Indians would be shocked to hear that; I mean they always fantasized to themselves but they had to have known that it wasn't realistic. A country that buys all its tech and has a GDP that is a fifth that of China is gonna overtake not only China but the US too out of nowhere! LOL You might as well say Somalia's the next superpower!

Sounds like you wasted 30 years... and that's not a source. I've lived in the US for 30 years too and it's basically nonsense and impossible for this country to willingly give up its hegemony to anybody under any circumstance. The only way is to fight and wrestle it away as the CCP is doing now. It won't be pretty so it won't suit your fantasies of an unhindered, amicable switch of power, which as never happened before in the history of the world.

And if one day, India does become strong enough to challenge for the world's strongest, you'd best believe that no matter how kind or democratic it is, it too will face the full force of the hegemon's hammer, whomever that hegemon may be. It doesn't matter; world powers don't switch off without struggle and the newcomer never earns the throne without defeating the old King's trials.

Plenty. All I know is cockroaches came after locusts so it's well deserved. Saw plenty of racism towards Lebron James too. When I was in college, filmmaker Wayne Wang came by a class I was taking and he told of the story of when boxer Sugar Ray Leonard was in Hong Kong, he was in the elevator of his hotel he was staying and an announcement in Chinese came on the intercom. He had a translator tell him that the hotel announced there was a monkey on the loose in the hotel's elevator so everyone should watch out.

The so-called cockroaches are responsible for vandalism, destruction, setting critical ordinary people on fire, mugging of folks removing roadblocks, rioting for no obvious justification, obstruction, and list goes on. They deserve all the condemnation thrown at them.

The Chinese that these cockroach calls locust are just ordinary folks going around their daily lives and enjoying some small pleasure in visiting HK.

Apologist like yourself think that these cockcroaches do not deserve condemnation. They are not equivalent.

When I read what you wrote about Xinjiang, HK, and Tibet, you remind me to search for ways states in the US can secede from it. Here's what I found

Sure it's Washington post, so take it with a grain/plenty of salt, depending on your tastes - but the interesting thing is there's no realistic way to secede from the US aside from waiting for it to crumble. Also, there have been plenty of hints from western media that those Chinese territories you mentioned should declare independence under any circumstance and through any means available, even violence.

To that, haha, The confederation tried that in the US many years ago, and I think everyone here remembered how the US responded and how the thing turned out.
