There could be two possibilities from this article.

One, is the Liberals will try to lecture China to death yet again. China is taking Suz Tzu advice, when the enemy is on the run, you chase. This week China sanctioned 30 US officials the day they left office. There is no other country in the world and in history that did something like that against the United States. Will Boeing hire Pompeo to their board of directors? Maybe McDonnell Douglas cannot buy rare earths from China if they hired him.

Two, is something that appears to be a complete fantasy. It is those interventions we see on a TV show. Where a group of people gang up together and get a therapist and they try to talk some advice into an individual who has deemed to have destructive behaviour, in the hopes this intervention (group therapy) is for everyone's benefit.

That's the Liberals. They cannot change, and increasingly, they cannot cope.

Lecturing might have worked back in 2016, but after Trump and COVID, they are farts in the wind.

Ideally, US should've adopted Biden's approach before exhausting to Trumps door kicking, because it doesn't work the other way around.

Trump slapped down every card we had. China might have been scared of tariffs, not anymore. There might have been Chinese policy makers who leaned toward a more open market or some adoption of democratic process, but who da fuck in their right mind would listen after US goes around helicoptering money and handing out $$$ to airline? As for the democratic process, nothing scare the Chinese more than what happened on Capitol Hill. It's fucking open season liberal in China, they are treated like the fucking plague by the public.

As for the Europeans.... Once bitten twice shy. Looking back on the last 4 years, and exposure such as Alstrom's ordeal

, which happened under Obama's watch, no one is gonna trust the Americans. On top of that, Brexit was a unmitigated disaster for American influence in the EU, as we will now see a return to European continental power, steered by France and Germany.

You've gotta handed to Trump, he might not make America Great Again, but he sure tried his darnest to make China great again.

What the US says about China in public if for domestic politics. That has been the deal with the devil for China for decades that the US has public anti-China rhetoric while actually doing little. That might have changed because of Trump. And Trump failed in every measurement to take on China except for the rhetoric. That's his only accomplishment he can claim that he "took on" China... and he failed which he leaves out. He use to say a lot early during his trade war that he stopped cold China from having the largest economy in the world overtaking the US. China is the only major economy growing in the world. China's predicted overtaking the US has quicken pace. Is that stopping China? What is Biden going to do? The world is the same.

The fact is the US and China compete for the very same resources in the world to maintain their economies. The US is not independent when they claim the US needs no one but everyone needs the US. Why despite being "energy independent" the US still needs to control the world's oil supply? That's because oil is a key strategic resource in the world and the US still wants to control who gets it. On the flip side is Iran. They have oil but the US has to stop Iran from making money from it. China can buy it as an alternative if other oil-producing countries do listen to the US and they lost all that money they would've made from China. If the US is energy independent, they're not buying oil meaning the US has little say to those that supply it to the world. China is the biggest oil customer in the world. You think the countries that have oil to sell in order for them to make money are going to listen to the US's whims and not sell oil to China and make no money? Because the US faces this kind of conundrum, that says the US isn't as independent as they think. Look at soy beans. The US and Brazil are closer allies yet they have to compete for China as a buyer. The US has zero leverage if there's another source China can buy from. What are they going to do? Tell Brazil not to sell soy beans to China so Brazil can make no money while the US does? That's how the world works with pretty much everything else. All of the US's allies have even less resources. There's a reason why most countries that have aggressive histories have very little natural resources of their own. The only thing they have left is the ability to commit violence anywhere in the world but other countries have nukes now and they're scared more than everyone else for their lives because they teach their people how much more valuable their lives are than everyone else's.

So what power does Biden have that Trump didn't have? Get resource poor Western allies together to gang up on non-Western countries and order them not to sell to China that's willing to pay more for their resources than they are hence why they complain about China out-bidding them for those very resources? What are they going to do if they don't obey? Bomb them? Trump becoming President and BREXIT are about yearning to go back to the good ole days. What are the good ole days? When the West specifically white people themselves were in control of the world? How are they going back like they want? Yes let's have the world witness the return of the monster roaming the countryside to which the West has never gotten that monkey off their back. They're too afraid to take on China by themselves because as you can see they're trying to get everyone else to do their dirty work. Even claiming getting allies together against China is because they want to spread the pain and loss so they don't suffer alone.

During his televised virtual meeting with his future staff on the inauguration day , he mentioned his private dinner with Xi years ago. I guess he's reminding Xi of their warm relationship and subtly suggesting a meet?
