I think the hawkish will be Kamala Harris, the vice president.
Remember her name is Kamala Devi Harris, Devi is still Indian name, and almost all Indian hate China. Her mother still teach her Indian culture, Hinduism, ( wikipedia ) and she still very fond of India

Mexico? Or Latin America?

Also consider that if Vietnam or South East Asia got the supply chain, they'll get richer and will also trade more with China. Remember that ASEAN biggest trade partner is China.

Problem with Latin America is with governmental stability. Kinda hard to maintain a stable, educated workforce when the drug lords can pay so much better and execute political leaders at will.

I have a feeling that ASEAN is running a shell scam by helping China bypass the trade war tariffs. True, ASEAN has become China's biggest trade partner of late, but I don't think the rise is purely fueled by local consumers.

The vast majority of China's trade surplus is recycled back into US treasury bonds (e.g. US Debt purchases). That's why China owns $1.3 Trillion in US debt, because it's the only nation that even has that sizeable trade surplus of US dollars to re-invest into US stocks and debt, other than Japan.

With US spending $3 Trillion plus on stimulus bailouts on COVID, do you realistically think EU, Japan, Mexico, Vietnam, Ireland, Italy, Korea, India, Thailand, ALL Combined can replace Chinese debt purchases? Nope.

So de-coupling is not possible. That's just rhetoric from news sensationalists baiting for clicks from bored people.

Crazy voices that I found on twitter suggest that America should revive HUAC and persecute folks that invest in or sympathetic to China like Dalio.

Also amusingly when Vietnam for example starts getting the dollar, Trump want to tariff them.

Did you know Lighthighzer used to be a Democrat? I LMAO'ed at that fact.
Seems that his time with Trump is mostly an unmitigated failure from start to finish, although to be fair, most of this is on Trump. He should have retired when he had the chance

That makes sense, before Clinton "3rd way", the Democrat power base was midwest with Industries like steel, the Industry in which Lighthizer was very passionate.
I read on Quora one of the reason for the downfall of American steel was hubris, their technology was way behind Japanese and German steel.

So one of Biden's strategies to revive the U.S economy is to introduce a "new deal" style program amounting around 700B

So what are the possible challenges for these initiatives?
At least these are what I am thinking.
1. Deficit Hawks coming back for 2022
2. Libertarians hate "market distortion"
3. Congress fighting programs for their constituencies
4. Progressive attacking the industries for not having proper union/benefit/woke
5. Hyperfocus on anecdotal mistakes/inefficiencies instead of the big picture by media/think tank/Republican
