Housing, Education, Childcare etc are just bunch of shoddy explanations that sociologists try to come up with because they're looking for a rational explanation to falling birth rates. Issue is more ideological.

Nordic Countries like Finland (1.3), Norway (1.5) , Denmark (1.7) are seeing birth rates fall for over a decade now.
These countries have the cheapest housing, free healthcare, free education, high per capita income (51k>) , tops the happiness index, cleanest environment , most liberal policies for women wrt maternity leave, benefits etc.

Yet despite all this their BR is falling. So what explains this phenomenon?

Acc to me people just don't consider giving birth a social, biological necessity as before and want to live a life without hassles of raising a child. The very idea/necessity behind giving birth and establishing a family is being challenged.
Create an environment where people want to immigrate to China.

Housing needs to be a resource that is easily available to everyone who wants to start a family. The modern housing market is to expansive for a majority of the people. That is absolutely not healthy.
What I don't get is that Singapore has a highly successful affordable housing program yet the birth rate is very low. That suggests that housing cost is only one element of the picture when it comes to demographics.

In my view China would benefit tremendously if people saw housing less as a store of value/place to put their money for investment. However, people need somewhere to put/invest their money as an alternative. Either banks that pay a high interest rate, or stocks and bonds would be great alternatives. Money that goes into the financial system for the purposes of lending to productive enterprises would actually help the economy.

China’s population increases less than half a million in 2021, births plunge again as crisis deepens

Mainland China’s overall population increased to 1.4126 billion last year, slightly up from 1.412 billion in 2020

Chinese mothers gave birth to 10.62 million babies last year, down from 12 million in 2020

This is actually good news. Births are only down by 11.5%. I was afraid it was going to be a lot worse.

Nope. No immigration for the time being when the countrys per capita income is relatively low compared to other leading economies. Plus, immigration must not be based or follow the western immigration system imho. Does SK and Japan have open immigration considering that those 2 countries are also facing population declines. What type of immigration do you have in mind?

Why are poorer countries in Chinas periphery like the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and African countries aren not having any issues when it comes to their fertility? It seems that economic development and high incomes make people more buget conscious or their spending habits become more materialistic, hedonistic, nihilistic and not geared towards creating or having a family.

The issue of low fertility rates are a developed countries problem which is why they have a pretty robust immigration which then causes conflict or issues with the majority population.

Why are richer countries like Israel having fertility rates 150% higher than China (and increasing!!!). It's clearly not all about wealth. Sure, a significant part of it is, but it's not the whole story.

There are huge behavioral changes happening, mostly in the Western World and now in the post-WW2 era in the East Asian world (Mainland China was a late catchup in this problem as compared to Japan/SKorea/Taiwan/HK/Macau/Singapore, for obvious reasons). It's those two civilizations or population groups that are experiencing collapses in birth rates.

Sure the inverse correlation between development/wealth/income and birth rate is very high, but so is the inverse correlation between IQ and birth rate, and liberalism and birth rate.

You don't want to lower IQ of course so that's a dead-end, and wealth/income and their distribution are already being worked on by China so there isn't much to do there (other than be more aggressive in this domain). On the other hand, countering liberalism regarding sexuality, morality, cosmopolitanism, and metro-sexuality is the one thing that hasn't been attempted by any country really. Except, of course, Israel.

Obviously they also have the irrational fear that they are about to be wiped out by a bunch of impoverished brown people which I'm sure incentivizes them, but they are already one of the most high population density countries on Earth, and that's not even considering that a huge percentage of their land is just rocky desert (Negev).

Also, for those that keep harping on about how it's only the extreme religious Haredi Jews that keep Israel's TFR at ~3.0, you couldn't be more wrong. The Haredi Jews are actually at 6-7 births per woman so this massive fertility boom is happening across all aspects of Israeli society.

Modifying and reversing Western degeneracy and outlook on life should be the goal, and it looks like this is increasingly becoming the goal of the CCP. Everything from banning effeminate boybands to reducing gaming and tutoring and much more; these things would never be done in a capitalist society. Even the traditionalist societies of Russia and Belarus probably won't go as far as China looks to be going.

Good for China. If anyone can reverse this it will be them. But it should do more and do it faster, not worrying as obsessively about the destabilization of society. They are way too obsessive about that. More risks need to be taken or it will become very stagnant very quickly.

Israel is rife with Western degeneracy including prominent gay pride parades. The reason I think their fertility rate is so high is mostly due to their fear of being genocided which is beaten into their head at a young age.

I don't think any of China's current policies(banning boybands, private tutoring, etc.) will make a significant difference. China needs to copy Israel and instill a fear in their population of losing their Chinese identity by foreign forces the way Israel instills a fear in their population of losing their Jewish identity by foreign forces. A mass propaganda campaign starting in elementary school is the only way to increase fertility in any meaningful way.

I don't think Israel instills through government policy what I suggests causes their birth rate to be so high (and ever increasing) but I do think it is a consequence of them re-assessing some Western cultural mores. They seem to have unified on discarding some (cosmopolitanism and racial equity) but keeping others (social liberalism within their race).
