One question I have in mind. If China were to successfully occupy/take-back Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Kashmir, and somehow prove the potential inferiority of IAF's Russian jets in the face of the PLAAF in one or two large-scale aerial engagement, would such scenario drive a wedge between Moscow and Beijing despite that fact that China's is now Russia' largest export destination? In other words, would a Sino-Indian War be a trigger for Moscow to reconsider its "friendship" with Beijing? Moscow did side with New Delhi during the 1962 War, which exacerbated the Sino-Soviet Split. In fact, Kennedy even briefly suggested collaborating with Moscow to reign in Beijing's nuclear ambitions.
Let's assume the SU-30MKI got their ass kicked.
What will India do?
a) Request western countries for replacement imports of heavy twin-engine fighters, of which there is only F15 and F18 to chose from.
b) Request replacement purchases from Russia at inflated by below western platform prices.
Since India's military is probably 60-70% sourced from Russia, the Indians has enough sunk cost to replace it with SU-35 instead.
If Russia continues to sell to India, and the purchase order actually increased due to immediate replacement needs, how are Russian interest infringed?
The best platforms of IAF are western, I doubt Russia would care if they get shot down.
But even the "Russian" IAF losing to PLAAF in a hypothetical engagement would not say much about the performance of Russian jets. Training, strategy, morale and other factors come into play.
Compare Chinese/Vietnamese performance in Korea/Vietnam against western technology and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The Sino-Soviet split was a different era, Russia and China are very different now. It's no secret the west are trying to drive a wedge between Russia and China. The incentives the Anglo zionists could offer either to turn against the other dwarfs anything Indians could dream to offer.

The biggest mistake Indian strategists have made over the last 20 years has been indecision and the COMPLETE failure to pick a side. You can't keep the Russians and the west happy at the same time.
