Aside from that, in the US, the so-called quarantine is enforced by the returnees themselves, and that definitely didn't work out last year. Based on last year's outcome in NY and the current relaxation of mask mandates and "lockdowns", I believe the Indian variant will spread like wildfire in the coming weeks.Better late than never.
Note the UK is seeing overall COVID cases decline.
But the Indian variants are now seeing exponential growth, despite a *lockdown* and half the population having had a vaccination dose.
So I expect the US is seeing exponential growth of the Indian variants as well, but they aren't doing much genome sequencing to track this.
I am thinking that at least the following should be done before "abandoning" by a responsible government.
Embassy sends out orders to all citizens in India to evacuate, with a deadline. Embassy provides pickup transportation if necessary. All will be send back to Australia. All evacuee will be quarantined on arrival.
That was what China did during the Libya crisis.
Only the ones who refused to obey the order should be banned to return.
Yes but they obviously dont want these people to return. Who knows if a fuck up happens and they infect people after they return from India.
Plus by saying evacuate now or we are closed, a lot of Australians will rush to return, thus increasing the chances of the virus spreading in Australia
Can you imagine the political cost if Australia is forced to shutdown because the virus came back from India because the Gov let them in?
The governing party could lose the next election because of their percieved incompetence.
TLDR: Gov will throw these few people under the bus in order to avoid mistakes and make sure they get elected safely.
WHO is contradicting itself by advising everyone to get vaccinated and at the same time withholding approval for Chinese vaccine known to be some of safest and widely available. Go figure why?WHO only took one day to approve Moderna but it is dragging its feet on Sinopharm and Sinovac.
Wait I thought India is the superpower of South Asia?India's weakening is apparent to all; now, all of india's neighbours look to China for trade and economic links.
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for instance have reached out to China for aid, vaccines and economic links.
China isn't even wearing masks now - at least many people don't bother. What a world's differenceBlaming China after the 4th wave doesn't make sense. You had over one year to get it under control like China has done, but your shit governance and leadership gave up prematurely.
All Chinese should insist and be proud of China controlling the pandemic to virtually no cases. If you can't find pride in that, you will have pride in nothing. You have to fight for respect, not cower to "oh they fake it" or "no credit given because they created it" deflections.
Here's my wildcard prediction: Modi rides the crisis and becomes ruler for life. The actual dictator without effective term limitsCome on @voyager1 get with it. Modi is the one encourage it the first place. He's the "Indian Trump" Remember he original said it was all a hoax? Then he wants his rallys! See he campaigns during the pandemic and refuses to wear mask during his walkabout. He's not going to stop this madness due to a pure Indian genes can stop this pandemic.
@Crang bro I may be reprimanded for these comment, but I see Chinese women wearing mask sexy, It fit nicely with their eyes, face feature and silky hair. That's mine opinion bro...LOLChina isn't even wearing masks now - at least many people don't bother. What a world's difference
