Modi literally has no opposition in India and has captured all institutions most importantly the Judiciary and Election Commission.
Also, this crisis hasn't affected his image at all. Through the pliant Media he has managed to deflect blame on China, local Govts, past Govts, opposition leaders. Everybody but him. Watch any coverage of this crisis in Indian Media and you wont see a single mention of Modi. It will always be "Government", "Bureaucrats", "Health Infra" but his name is never invoked. This is how you brainwash people into believing Modi is not at fault.
If elections are held today, Modi will still win in a landslide. In a nation of 1.3 billion people, couple million deaths means nothing to him.

Thanks for the concern bro. We're trying our very best to stay safe but this new variant is quite deadly. The system is on verge of collapse and yet the Govt is still going ahead with its Religious Hindu Pilgrimage . Kashmir has already ran out of vaccines and we aren't exactly a priority for the Indian regime.
So all we can do is remain cautious and hope the wave subsides.
