Probably constitutional illegal. But in emergencies, law doesn't matter. I am also interested to see what they will do.

I am thinking that at least the following should be done before "abandoning" by a responsible government.

Embassy sends out orders to all citizens in India to evacuate, with a deadline. Embassy provides pickup transportation if necessary. All will be send back to Australia. All evacuee will be quarantined on arrival.

That was what China did during the Libya crisis.

Only the ones who refused to obey the order should be banned to return.

Yes but they obviously dont want these people to return. Who knows if a fuck up happens and they infect people after they return from India.

Plus by saying evacuate now or we are closed, a lot of Australians will rush to return, thus increasing the chances of the virus spreading in Australia

Can you imagine the political cost if Australia is forced to shutdown because the virus came back from India because the Gov let them in?
The governing party could lose the next election because of their percieved incompetence.

TLDR: Gov will throw these few people under the bus in order to avoid mistakes and make sure they get elected safely.

This is what it means to be a CPC member and what it means to lead. Leadership by example not just by or through pretty speeches. Speech is useless without action. One of the many reasons why the majority of countries under western "Democratic" precepts aren't doing all that well when it comes to handling any crisis.

I received 2 jabs of Pfizer (2/25, 3/19) and didn't experience heart palpitations, No irregular heartbeats display on Omron BP monitor. Experience soreness on arm for about 3-4 days, similiar to pneumonia jab.

My wife and I had our first shot last week. We did not have any major side effects. We both had minor sore arms.

It seems that even their favourite West is closing the door to India now.

No worries though, China will come to the rescue again.
At least, the whole world can get a glimpse of how China's values would work in a new world order. I have to say that if I was a leader of a country, I would be wishing for China to be on top right now

It's magnanimity towards India where it just had a border clash wont go unnoticed to the 'Elites' of the world. If China could work with India under these circumstances, then it really can work with anyone on the world right now

I don’t think anyone is white washing things here. No one on this forum is saying Chindi-Chindi Bhai Bhai. What some of the people, including me, are expressing is shock and distaste at how badly the situation deteriorating in India. If I may be blunt it is like watching a dumb teenage wannabe gangster whose been talking trash to you all year falling into a septic tank and drowning in sewage. Anyone with the least bit of human decency would try to throw the kid a rope, even though he’ll continue spewing excrement of the literal and figurative kind after and maybe even during his rescue.

Even now the Indian government prefer to play politics even as their people are literally dying like flies and reject help from the only country who could potentially make a meaningful impact.

It may sound heartless, but I’m glad. The only thing India’s participation in the initiation would have done was guarantee it’s failure. Because no matter what the Indian government pledged to do, it will fail, and most likely fail miserably. So any plan that depends on India playing its part will also fail.

With India completely out of the picture, not only will they not be able to let the team down by failing to do their part, but just as importantly, everyone else can make realistic plans with honest assessments of the situation without needing to sugar coat things to sooth Indian pride.

That was shocking and traumatic at the same time. Holy s..t. I feel for the people of India.

Guys. Do they deserve our sympathy with studipity like this?

Come on @voyager1 get with it. Modi is the one encourage it the first place. He's the "Indian Trump" Remember he original said it was all a hoax? Then he wants his rallys! See he campaigns during the pandemic and refuses to wear mask during his walkabout. He's not going to stop this madness due to a pure Indian genes can stop this pandemic.
