Among the countries that achieved the most success in controlling the spread and deaths from this virus, China, South Korea, Singapore, New Zealand and maybe Germany, the only common factor is the COMPETENCE of the government. Not cultural, race, religion or political system.

I would disagree with parts of that statement.

It is pretty obvious that culture has played a big part in spreading COVID-19.
Cheek-kissing and hugging happens all the time in Spain and Italy, so social distancing doesn't normally exist, which is why cases there exploded.

Germans aren't that friendly (or affectionate), so people do keep further away from each other.

With China, South Korea and Singapore - you can see they are very Confucian in the following ways:
1. Generally competent government
2. Not very touchy-feely, which helps with social distancing
3. And are generally collectivist rather than individualist

Out of those countries only China and South Korea experienced large spikes in a short period. Merkel said something like 40-70% of Germany could get infected. What they apparently done well was keep the death rate low. I haven't heard figures from New Zealand. I'm not talking about how many people get infected. I'm talking how they handle large numbers in short period of time.

I personally do not even given a second thought on the conspiracy theories about any government agencies intentionally/unintentionally spreading the virus, be it Chinese, American or Russian. There are certain people on this planet who believes that every bad thing has been planned and executed by some governments so that some mysterious people/organization can rule the world. Some say it’s the aliens, then the lizard people, then the Free Masons, then the Chinese, then...... All BS!

It’s a whole bunch of people with way too much time on their hands and, honestly poor imagination. Something weird happens..... all they can think of is “it’s the aliens! It’s the free masons! It’s the Chinese / the American / the Russian governments that try to enslave us!” Come on guys! Be a little more creative! The natural world is filled with wonders that require a lot of imagination and creative thinking to understand!

Conspiracy theories are so boring! it’s always the same theme, same tone! Lack of imagination!

You do have a point here. New Zealand have very little infection and only one know death as of today, but one of the first country to act quickely with strict lockdown rules and implementing it without problems. Acting before it get out of control.

It is no wonder that Trump is so upset at GM. This is what the CEO of Ventec, GM's partner, said to CNBC on Friday :

"We plan to be producing together over 1,000 units by the end of April and of course with GM's talent and skill, we'll be ramping up to 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000,"

For long term self reliance on ventilator, YES. But this delivery schedule is not going to meet US's need now when many hospitals are on the brink of being overwhelmed. The lack of urgency by GM and Ventec is appalling.
I spent 10 years designing Medical Devices and the means to manufacture them. He's not wrong. Trump just cannot handle facts.

I don't believe in conspiracy from the beginning either because no matter whoever intentionally spread the virus, Chinese or America, he/she suffer from it now.

When people are helpless/hopeless, they tend to believe what they like to believe. I remember back to 2003 when SARS was spreading, there were rumors that eating red bean before midnight would prevent SARS. Now similar spreading again, a girl on Facebook is spreading a theory by video stream said that 2-days old baby in her village speaking that eating duck's egg will prevent the coronavirus and then died. She later was taken to police station for spreading unsubstantiated rumor. It's ridiculous, such rumors were spreading again and again from time to time but there are people still believe it.

By the way, I think coronavirus cases worldwide reach 1 million is just a matter of time.
