What is probably going to happen is the US “offers” 80% tariffs on Chinese goods and demands China set US goods to 0%. Since they are insisting the 10% tariff remains as a global base line. MAGA will likely be demanding global “free trade” on US goods only with everyone else
Maybe Ron Vara still hold onto that idea but I think most in the US, Trump included, is now fully aware who is who's b* right now.
US is offering unilateral reduction to 80% just so Bessent might be able to show his face infront of China's EU delegation.

Yeah, it was a matter of time before Trump folded like little bitch. Seriously, he really does lack for brains in basic logic. Threatening your biggest customer would only result in said biggest customer walking away. Still, it’s impossible to tell if this tweet is true or not since he has a vast history of being a bullshit artist of the highest order
He might be conditioning his followers that returning to status quo is him making China open again.

They were always going to play it that way so no surprises here. We all know they've been trying to talk to China and so they reached out first. Then this propaganda piece was co-written by an ethnic Chinese to give added legitimacy to their claim, it's the same crap they pulled when they criticized the Burkinabe leader the other day, they got a black face to do it.

How can anybody with a brain take this seriously, lol!
Bloomberg wrote an entire article on "people familiar with Chinese government thinking"

China wants to see a number of steps from President Donald Trump's administration before it will agree to trade talks, including showing more respect by reining in disparaging remarks by members of his cabinet, according to a person familiar with the Chinese government's thinking.

Other conditions include a more consistent US position and a willingness to address China's concerns around American sanctions and Taiwan, said the person, who asked not to be identified to discuss internal thinking.

Beijing also wants the US to appoint a point person for talks who has the president's support and can help prepare a deal that Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping can sign when they meet, the person said.

What is the difference between 145% and 80%
Depending on the item, it could mean nothing, it could mean a 65% savings, or it could mean a sale when there was none before. Believe it or not, 145% tariffs will not shut down all trade. For example, trinkets you often see at novelty stores with some bullshit gem or stone in the middle selling for ~$15 often cost less than $1 from China in bulk. So with 145% tariffs, they're still under $2.45 for the business to acquire. Shop owners are pissed, maybe up the price to $15 to $16.45, maybe keep it at $15 and eat the difference themselves but that business still goes on as normal despite the tariffs.

Yeah, it is bad, it is nothing but propaganda everywhere.

Earlier today, I read this long article, from mainstream media, going on and on about Chinese transshipment of goods through other ASEAN countries.

They made it sound like it was business as usual, that China was still able to export it goods to the US through these underhanded methods.

One simple fact blows the whole story away. Shippers with the containment ships, told the world how much business has declined, anywhere from 33% to 65% depending on the line.

Those good made in China, will not be arriving in America. Empty shelves is the future, just it is unknown how long that will last.

Sooner or later, they will start to ban China news in the United States, like how they are banning news about the India Pakistan war in India.

Breathtaking courage to face up to the truth!

:p

FAFO, the US begged for the meeting, and likely went in thinking they were still in the position of strength, the Chinese probably just didn’t want to bother listening anymore as it was just pointless.

Love the comments, the absolute delulu of all the people saying art of the deal. I guess after all this BS is over and done with, psychiatrists and psychologists around the world will have a new case study in mass delusion.
