Airfield in Khmelnytsky hit by Russian airstrike, 5 aircraft damaged, fuel store burning, runway cratered. Source from local Ukrainian authorities.
Surely they want to destroy the Su-24s and migs that launch the Storm Shadows, for the first time in a year and a half the Ukrainian air force can give Russia problems.
Although Russia has previously attacked AFU airfields, these have not seemed to be its priority, but that could change now.
I think this bodes very badly for the F-16s.

There is however an airfield Russians seems have yet to touch, the Uzhorod international.

It's kinda located in very corner of the country.

It ends right at the border with Slovakia, so keeping anything secret over there would be impossible. And if Russians really wanted to strike against it, they could literally guide fire and conduct BDA via cell phone.

Plus, it being remote is kind of a double edged sword. Might be a harder place for the Russians to strike against, but equally as difficult for the Ukrainians to strike from. It's a single runway, too, so no cool emergency evacuation for assets, either...

730km to Mikolaev.
I don't think the Russians will be able to reach it easily; if it enters from the south, the missile will have to make a significant detour, which limits its range. If it enters from the north, it could reach, although there is time to move the planes a couple of hundred metres until it is inside Slovakia ...
The airport is on the border with Slovakia , so there is an additional risk that if it fails it could kill slovaks, besides that it is right under the AWACS and other radars and assets, although this has not prevented russians from attacking places like Lviv on multiple occasions.
But 730km is a lot and this is just for Nikolaev so it limits a lot what can fly from there.

Sounds similar to this recent strike here where a low flying Su-34 appeared to dump cluster munitions over an airfield. On first glance it appears to miss the hanger but on second thought the target was the tarmac itself, as the cluster munitions exploded all over the surface, which would have cratered it and leave unexploded bomblets. This was followed by another pass where the aircraft dropped incendiaries over the tarmac. Incendiaries would have melted and deformed the tarmac where they lay

In addition to air, drone and missile strikes, lots of artillery bombardment going on.
