The War in the Ukraine

I think that the main main reason behind that is the fact that "the west" isn't fighting there.

But that's a wild guess.

As good as ever.

A few days ago it was mentioned how the US is feeding intel data directly from their sensors and platforms directly to the Ukranians, we routinely see NATO aircraft probing the areas right around Sevastopol whenever they are about to carry out an UAV attack, but no, the west is totally not involved.

And Nanjing didn't happen, either, right?

Feedback on the Russian BMP-3 of the commander of the assault group of marines, reinforced with BMP-3 armored vehicles.

Published footage of the interception of Ukrainian missiles by the MLRS, the Russian Pantsir-S air defense system. It is not known which Ukrainian MLRS fired, MLRS M270 or M142 HIMARS. Flashes the moment of interception of missiles.

Footage of the impact of the Russian kamikaze drone "Lancet" in the P-18 all-round radar of Ukraine in the Kherson region. The P-18 all-round radar was put into service in 1970 and is designed to detect air targets and determine the nationality of air objects. The Ukrainian army has repeatedly upgraded the radar.

Footage of a large-scale attack by the Ukrainian army near the village of Peski on the positions of the Russian "Somalia" unit and the 11th regiment. As noted, the attack was organized quite competently. The Ukrainian army, taking advantage of the lack of Russian aviation, used 3 Mi-24 helicopters and armored vehicles. Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopters, not entering the air defense zone, carried out launches of unguided missiles from a pitch-up. Two T-64BV tanks supported the advance of the Shilka anti-aircraft gun and the BMP-2 armored vehicle with fire. After the defeat of the BMP-2, it later exploded, Ukrainian units began to retreat. Reportedly, after the retreat, the Ukrainian army lost part of its previously occupied positions.

Episode of the battle in Ukraine. On the Bakhmut direction in the Soledar area. An infantry fighting vehicle of the Ukrainian army was hit by a Russian ATGM crew. As a result of the battle, after an attempted offensive, the Ukrainian army reportedly suffered losses and retreated.

5 Armored Vehicles and 6 Ukrainian Tanks Against DPR Militants, This is the Impact TRIBUN-TIMUR.COM - Donetsk People's Republic or DPR militants released footage of combat work against Ukraine. The recording was widely circulated on Telegram on Friday, December 9, 2022. It is known that the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a counterattack, but the attempt was claimed by DPR Militants to have failed. The caption of the post said the Militants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces made a daring attempt to counterattack on the positions they had retaken from them earlier. The offensive effort was carried out by Ukrainian troops, consisting of up to 15 armored vehicles, which were provided with fire support of up to six tanks. However, the DPR Militants were undeterred and met the enemy troops with heavy fire from the ambush. During the fierce fighting, 4 Ukrainian equipment was destroyed and the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were forced to flee. The impact of the devastation on the Ukrainian tank was also caught on the DPR's drone camera.

From what it looks here in both cases, the Russians have high ground advantage, which is where the point of view of the video camera is, and is able to direct or correct artillery or laze targets for laser guided ones from their position.

93rd Brigade of the Ukrainian Army might be withdrawn from Soledar due to heavy attrition. According to @milchronicles.

The 93rd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is being withdrawn from Soledar due to heavy losses. Details.

On December 8, units of the 93rd Specialized Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Kholodny Yar”, with the support of the 24th brigade, tried to attack the positions of the Wagner PMC and the 6th Regiment. Platov to the east of Soledar, in the area of the industrial zone of the Knauf plant.

Eight BMP-2s and 12 Mastiff armored vehicles were used to break through the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but aerial reconnaissance, as well as drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and heavy equipment were not used for the offensive.

The lack of intelligence and fire support led to the fact that the column of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was ambushed by T-72B3 and T-80BVM tanks of the allied forces and was destroyed.

The surviving units retreated to their original positions to the fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Blagodatny and mine No. 7 (10 km west of Soledar), where an artillery strike was later delivered by Krasnopol high-precision projectiles.

Later, from radio interception data, it became known that during the attack on the positions of the Wagner PMC and the 6th Regiment. Platov, at least 40 Ukrainian soldiers of the 93rd and 24th brigades were killed, and about 80 more were seriously injured.

After an unsuccessful offensive, losses in the 93rd Kholodny Yar brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reached a critical level. Because of this failure, the unit may soon be removed from the Soledar direction and sent for resupply to the Dnieper.

According to the Military Chronicle, the total losses of the 93rd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including those killed, wounded, deserted and missing in the battles against PMC "Wagner" and NM LPR since the summer of 2022, can significantly exceed 3 thousand people. At the same time, in some sectors of the front, the personnel of the 93rd Motorized Brigade was updated by 90% due to losses. The brigade has been without rotation for half a year, and high losses are compensated by mobilized recruits.

The withdrawal of the unit from the city will mean that only the 24th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as several small nationalist detachments, remain in the Soledar direction. While maintaining the fire superiority of PMC "Wagner" and the People's Militia of the LNR, the Ukrainian front in this area may collapse, and the threat of a full-fledged encirclement will hang over Bakhmut.

Pentagon gives Ukraine green light for drone strikes inside Russia

The Pentagon has given a tacit endorsement of Ukraine’s long-range attacks on targets inside Russia after President Putin’s multiple missile strikes against Kyiv’s critical infrastructure.

“We’re still using the same escalatory calculations but the fear of escalation has changed since the beginning,” a US defence source told The Times. “It’s different now. This is because the calculus of war has changed as a result of the suffering and brutality the Ukrainians are being subjected to by the Russians.”

Washington is now less concerned that new long-range strikes inside Russia could lead to a dramatic escalation. Moscow’s revenge attacks have to date all involved conventional missile strikes against civilian targets. Previously, the Pentagon was warier of Ukraine attacking Russia because it feared the Kremlin would retaliate either with tactical nuclear weapons or by targeting neighbouring Nato nations.

However, Washington does not want to be seen publicly giving the green light to Kyiv attacking Russian soil. Its position on Ukraine’s attacks inside Russia was defined this week by Antony Blinken, the secretary of state, who said: “We have neither encouraged nor enabled the Ukrainians to strike inside of Russia.”

This wouldn’t have happened had the Russians acted on their threats when they told the US not to do X. Such as attacking “decision making centers” in Kiev if Crimea was hit and all the other threats. Now the US sees no risk to escalation and believes that the Russians are bluffing. It would have been better if Russia never made the threats in the first place.

So why Ukraine which is a Sovereign nation have to wait for US greenlight for its strategy making ? They were rightfully defend themselves and therefore can make any strategy by themselves.
US is a major sponsor of weapons required for Ukrainian survival, so unless Ukraine wants to alienate it's major source of weapons, it's somewhat forced to abide by initial end-user conditions set by US.

That said, Ukraine has attacked Russian territory with its own domestic equipment countless times before. Now with drones, I bet HIMARs will be allowed to hit Russian territory if infrastructure targets keeps getting wrecked.

Don't be silly this won't happen. American oligarchs want Russia destroyed at all costs so they can get their vile fingers on russias immense natural resources and have trillions more paper dollars for themselves.

US is not going to pull any support. Instead it's working in maximum overdrive desperately trying to keep Europeans on board with suiciding their own lifestyle for this plan

They are in this for the longhaul or until the costs outweigh the benefits and the benefits of consuming Russias resources is pn a galactic scale

Is that a rhetorical question?
Ukraine is alive due to the US = US says 'Jump!', Ukraine says "how high?"

Should be a simple concept to understand that whoever holds your lifeline, he can control you
