We are currently using M1s in Iraq for urban combat. We even upgraded them with the TUSK (Tank Urban Survivability Kit).

have you ever considered that the TUSK upgrade came from the atrocious amount of M1s mission killed? The urban jungle isn't a place for 70 ton tanks.

There is a T-80U sitting at fort Irwin that is open for any military guy just to get into.
US actually had T-80U, not from Korea, but accidentally from some state that didn't suppose to have em (even before SK goth them). But i doubt that it's real T-80U in Irwin. And this case has some reflection in the world media, while theres no single word about T-90. And i do not think that indians would sell it. My guess that your T-90 is T-72B (US should have some) made to look like T-90. What else should we expect from the guys, who make their own T-72, stuff it with explosives, and shoot ATGM in turret's flank...
the u.s actuallt buys hundreds of t-72,s 80s, 90s
Of T-72's right, not 80s and 90s (wtf?). Has some 80s, but not hundreds.
NAAAA......I'm done trying to explain myself. When I post something I am not lying. I am telling the truth. If you dont believe It does not matter to me......cheers ute.
Probably you're not lying (even most likely, if you prefer). But:
a) Other people do
b) You still can be mistaken
To the best of my knowledge the T-80 hasn't been used extensively in Chechnya if at all
T-80 were in Chechnya. about 100 tanks, she basic versions of the tank. It was there, ukranian-style autoloader was rejected as unrelyable.

But the future aint a place for tanks.

In 30 years or so, the tanks would most likely be pretty non existant.
The future promotes infantry with AT weapons and lightly armed IFVs.

To quote a friend of mine:
"Just as infantry dominated the battlefield in ancient times, cavalry in the middle ages, cannons in the Napoleonic times, infantry again in WWI, and the tank and plane in WWII, the reliance upon tanks in the Information Age is simply at an end. The future lies yet again with infantry."

An other thought...Tank have been declared obsolete since the beggining of their existence. Yet they've managed to survive the plane, the chopper, the ATGM and even to the precision strike munition...NOw infantry?

I mean if they got hundreds of t's why using vismods on NTC? I don't get it.

The U.S does not have "Hundreds" We have maybe half a dozen of T-72 at NTC and A T-80 with "brick" reactice armour and The T-80U with the more advanced reactive armour. Maybe about the same in maryland.

ANYWAY.....lets delve away from what the U.S has or does not have. HOW IS THE T-80/90 BLACKEAGLE UPGRADE PROGRAM GOING? COULD A VERSION OF THIS BE THE NEW SO CALLED SUPER TANK THAT THE PRC COULD FIELD.

the black eagle is awsome. i think the program was actuallly funded by the chinese and some weapons deals. this is the only tank that can take on fifth generation tanks. china hasnt shown interest in it, but the south koreans have.

it has around 350-400mm of armor, mainly steel plates sandwiching armor glassfiber. kaktus era is on top, with arena active defense. the auto loader is a new design, getting rid of the expolosion problems of the old t-seiries. the gun is supposedly a 152 mm, but current models only have a suped up 125mm. the crew is now actually protected by armor compartments, and has a tank management system.

anyone have info on the t-95? its a tank supposedly with an uninhabited turret

Black Eagle has also some sort of unhabited turret . The crew sits in the pace formerly occupied by the autoloader, completely inside the hull, not purely unmanned, by very close. It's quite revolutionary arragment, not fielded in any operational tank yet...i'm no tank-expert so perhaps someone could enlighten us more how good that arragment actually is, or is it just illusion...

negitive, the Black eagle has a crew inside of the turret. The hull is just a T-80 with a realy upgraded Turret which has focus of crew protection.

My opinion is that armed UAV's will render the tanks less effective. Rather than tanks rolling forward with their main guns and IFV's shooting anti-tank missiles, you'll have a massie wave of truck launched UAV's with AI programmed for hunter-killer missions across hundreds of miles.

But that applies to first world nations with the money and technology. T-55 tanks are obsolete, yet they're still in use today in many poorer countries. It's not unrealistic to think that in 2030 we might see 3rd world countries shooting at each other with well-used T-72's.

Well, i think Gollevainen is closer to the truth.
According to russian officials the crew of BE is situated under the external part of the turret, but still in it. There was one similar design (appeared later) - iordanian "Falcon" - conversion of the Challenger 2.
it has around 350-400mm of armor
You underestimete it's armor greatly. It's turret is protected up to 1300mm against sabot. Look at the picture - armor is green:
