Harbin First Machinery Building Group reports that it has for the first time achieved a production rate of three per day for a certain 155mm self-propelled howitzer. They look like PLZ-05s.

They're still mass producing PLZ-05s? I thought I saw somewhere they were replacing it with a 7-wheeled one because it shook too much during firing

The images are too blurred to tell for certain, but these don't appear to have the characteristic rear turret overhang the new SPHs have, among other things. The new SPH is probably still under development. Even if it's in production, it probably won't get produced at the rate of three per day.

Yeah it just seems weird that they're still producing 3 per day when there's a new one under development. Seems to hint the new one is not a priority for the PLA

I don't think that's a reasonable conclusion. Does Toyota stop producing the current Camry model because a new one is in the works? How have you concluded that the new SPH is either ready for or is currently in production?
