Everyone in the Donbass who wanted a Russian passport was able to get one. It would be cheaper to relocate those people inside Russia than take on the dead weight that is the Ukrainian economy.
That's not the point. Everyone is talking about the little economic/trade/tech/diplomatic/people gains that Russia would have from attacking Ukraine while neglecting the fact that NATO is building Ukraine to be what Taiwan is to China

Unless Biden gives solid guarantees to Putin, Russia will attack Ukraine for geopolitical and military reasons. It is impossible for Russia to tolerate NATO arming and training the Ukrainian military

The most likely situation, most people seem to agree, will be a Georgia like scenario. Russia crushes the Ukrainian armed forces and leaves them to their own devices. That is assuming Ukraine does attack the people of the Donbass, like what happened with Georgia and its splinter republics. The terrain of the Donbass republics might increase a fair bit, just to rub it in.

The (not so) funny thing is had Ukraine followed the Minsk agreements the situation on their border would have been over. The price was enhanced autonomy for the Donbass. Most of it is ceremonial or minor in nature like allowing Russian to be taught in schools and used as a second language in the Donbass. But the Nazis in power in Ukraine aren't interested in granting the people of the Donbass a pardon. Mind you these are the same guys who ousted the Ukrainian President in a US sponsored coup. They would still not get Crimea back, but the Minsk agreements don't cover Crimea, so they could just do like Spain does with Gibraltar and simply not accept the Russian claim at all.

You cannot compare Georgia with Ukraine. Georgia is located to south and just like Southern Europe dont have same ingredients of work and education. Ukraine need effective undivided management with investments so it can grow.
2014 and 2021 is very different. Now significant population of Ukraine knows reality. if they entered EU economic system they will get burden of Europe without salaries of Europe.
Russia and Belarus will making alot money from Electricity exports.

Can we get a dedicated thread for the Ukrainian-Russian conflict(s) launched? It's a thread I'd want to watch, but I'd say I'd like to hear about Russian developments besides the conflict(s) separately.

@anzha agree, with a lot of Russian member here, I or we would like to hear their opinion and enlighten us more. Aside from Ukraine, the development in Moldova, the failed Belarussian coup, Edrogan duplicity and the possible war in Serbia.

The whole Asia and India should thank Russia. if the First Cold war didnot happened. West would not have needed so much Asian immigration and out sourcing.
Citation needed.
If Europeans pay same prices as Asia for energy. Europe factories will simply not sustained. it is Russia that is helping Asia attracting investments. Vietnames leader was very happy to meet Putin and they understand this point.
You are literally saying that Europe pays less for the energy and Russia is one of the primary energy exporters to Europe. So how Russia is helping Asia in attracting investments? Developed Asian countries attract investments for the same reasons as other developed countries, while the main investors in developing Asian economics are other Asian countries. For example,
