Interesting idea with the poisoned fruits! Unfortunately, I think it's against the law here. Besides, I don't want to deal with dead raccoons. :p

I really hope it's not more than one raccoon!

I believe you live in California? Do you know what type of persimmon tree you have? Asian or american? I'm actually planning to plant some persimmon trees next year. However, since I live in Toronto, I think I have to go with the american type, but I've heard that they're not as tasty as the asian kind?

They don't die instantly from rat poison. They leave and usually die somewhere else most likely where their nest is. So unless they live on your property, you don't have to deal with it.

I don't know what type of persimmon tree but they're the ones that look like small pumpkins.

For my 1/350 scale USS Enterprise, CVN-80, Ford Class carrier project, tonight I just bought 12 of the F/A-XX aircraft in 1/350 scale, the Boeing version some are calling the F/A-50. Also bought 6 MQ-25 Stingrays in 1/350 scale...actually X-47Bs but they will look the same exteriror wise..

Finally, I have a friend who is going to produce the Grumman version of the FA-XX in 1/350 scale, which I will use as my futuristic EW aircraft.

So, my air wing on the 1/350 scale CVN-80, US Enterprise is going to have:

16 x F-35C 5th gen strike aircraft
12 x FA-50 6th Gen air superiority aircraft
06 x EA-XX Electronic aircraft 6th gen Electronic warfare aircraft
06 x MQ-25 stingray refuelers
04 x E-2D Advanced Hawkeye AEWs
08 x F/A-18F Advanced Super Hornets Strike aircraft
02 x CMV-22B COD Osprey aircraft

That will be 54 aircraft of which I will have 14 in the hanger, and 40 on deck.

With that air wing, she is is going to just be too hot to handle!

But one day...after I am long gone...she will have an air wing approximating something like this as she transitions away from the 4+ gen aircraft to full 5th gen and starts into the 6th gen aircraft.

You going for stupidity it is an unusual animal not dangerous ! to catch in a cage and release a few kilometers
Animal taciturne enough so he will quickly panic to get upset and in the tarnsport hide him with a tarpaulin or a garment on the cage seeing nothing it will not move any more

Put fish in the cage and hop dude :D but take a pic and post.

I don't think you have ever dealt with racoons before... They carry rabies and are usually very aggressive. They are considered a pest here in north america because they are everywhere and breed fast. Just kill them with poison.

Speciesism is alive and well (or should we say running rampant) in Toronto, because while smaller, and arguably cuter, furry fauna like mice are considered fair game for catching and killing, larger mammals, like raccoons, are protected. For most Ontarians, it’s against the law to even own a body-gripping trap that can catch anything bigger than a rat, but the reason has nothing to do with a love of the dreaded garbage looters. It’s actually a nod to public safety. Any device big enough to off a raccoon could also snare the neighbour’s cat (or a small child). The same logic forbids the use of poison or firearms against raccoons. In other words, if you’re hell-bent on fashioning a homemade Davy Crockett coonskin cap, you may end up wearing it on the receiving end of a $5,000 fine. If you can prove a raccoon is destroying your property, you can live trap the creature and have a vet do your dirty work. There’s just one catch. Because of the many diseases they carry, wild animals are banned from veterinary clinics in Toronto. Good luck finding a vet who makes lethal house calls.

The most populous city in Canada, Toronto, also permits the capture of raccoons, but HealthCanada regulations discourage releasing pest animals in other locations. In Toronto you would be expected to take the trapped raccoon to a veterinarian for euthanasia, but because most veterinarians will not allow wild animals into their offices because of the diseases they carry, there are very limited options for killing the animal lawfully. Killing the animal with gunshot or with a blunt object could result in criminal charges of cruelty to animals.

So you're technically allowed to capture them, but releasing them anywhere is discouraged. Instead, they expect you to take it to a vet for euthanasia, but no vet would actually take them.

If you try killing them in some other manner, you would be committing a crime.

Honestly, WTF???

Apparently California has the similar laws for such animals regarding poisoning but I read an article that you can trap and then kill a raccoon if it's being a nuisance. Also you can't release them anywhere else except the area it was caught for fear of spreading any diseases. But rattlesnakes are all right to kill. I moved to an area where the backyard borders a regional park. I'm sure there are raccoons but I haven't seen any yet. Probably because there are a lot more predators up the food chain like vultures, falcons, foxes, and cougars. The only rattlesnakes I've ever seen were in aquariums. So I'm weed-whacking the yard of tall grass and I catch a snake coiling on its back 2 feet in front of me. I turn off the weed-whacker and I can hear a rattle. It got weed-whacked. I got a shovel and killed it.

Did you have snake stew? LOL

I guess that's one advantage of living in a colder climate. I don't have to deal with rattlesnakes!

why don't you rig up a plastic or stain less steel guard/ring meter or so high around the perimeter of the tree trunk to prevent the critter from climbing up the tree?
