PLAN Zubr Large Air Cushion Landing Craft

The first domestic zubr was launched last year AFAIK.

Since china now owns 7 of them, plus another under construction, i really doubt that they will build further. The issue is if they will develop a new large hovercraft in the future, since this is 1980´s technology.

Greece sold its zubr fleet to china.
I had heard they might sell two...but have seen no indication of it. In fact, as Jobjed showed us, all four are still docked in Greece.

I do not think China is buying Greek Zubrs since they now can build their own so readily.

Right now there are four in China we know of...and we have just seen a picture that shows a fifth supposedly.

If they have five, I expect they will build at least one more...and they may build even more. I believe the Zubr is a good vessel for the PLAN in the SCS.

If China only wanted four to six, they would not (IMHO) gone to the trouble of developing their own manufacturing capability. They would have bought the Ukraine Zubrs and the Greeks.

But they did develop the capability and have built two and maybe three now. If they have built that many, then I expect they are going to build more.

IIRC I read somewhere that the Greek ones have been badly maintained and that was the reason these were not bought by China while Greece was ( and still is ) desperate for money.

I thought you ask earlier if China had built any ZUBR after the four delivered but you seem to know a lot more then you are revealing. A loaded question perhaps

That one that was launched last year was part of the 4 zubr delivered (or to be delivered) to PLAN. Construction was delayed 2 years, apparently due to lack of parts from ukraine. Check post #175. I dont know what are you talking about with this "loaded question" talk.

but there appears now to be another Chinese built one (shown above) that I am told is not one of the four. That would mean a fifth.

Jeff, what picture are you refering to? if last year there was a completed zubr and another under construction (all part of the "original" 4), i doubt that a hipotetical domestic 3th was already built. Probably this is the 2nd domestic or even the first. Could you link where you saw your info?

I was referring to Jobjed's post here:

https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/plan-zubr-large-air-cushion-landing-craft.t7169/page-18#post-458356

and that picture.

after rereading it, it seems he is indicating that the picture refers to the frst or second chinese constructed Zubr.

I though he meant this was a 3rd chinese build...but apparently not.

The Ukrainains two are out and the two constructed by China are out now, is my understandng. My understandng was that all four are launched. That is why I thought tat pic might be a 3rd chinese build...which would mean the 5th vessel.

I still believe China will build more than two and have more than four altogether.

I would not be surprised to see them build four, or six...bringing their total up to six or eight.

Time will tell.

OK, But beyond that, there is no news on whether they will build more or develop a new type.
