Actually I am meaning to ask... If the PLA bought a new type of helicopter, how long will it take for them to get the system and her people up to actual efficient combat status? We are not just training the pilot... But actual usage in real life combat, operation, logistic, etc. All these might take years, so if reunification is near... Getting new helicopter might not be the way to go...

Training will take years, but could be expedited somewhat in this case due to the side-by-side seating design.

But to be honest, if China was to place a large order for TR, I would expect China to go for the Mi28.

That way training can be done in secret in Russia on Russian aircraft under the guise of joint exercises and exchange programmes etc while the PLA birds are being built - the the airframe b could also be disguised as additional orders for the Russian military.

Then you could have dozens or even hundreds of Mi28s simply fly cross the boarder from Russia into China and be combat ready pretty much immediately.

However, that doesn’t seem necessary at all given China has its own Z10 and Z19 in good numbers now.

While the Mi28 is more heavily armoured, I doubt that would make much difference to a MANPAD, so the biggest factor in terms of survivability will be countermeasures and jammers, and to be frank, I would expect the PLA to trust their own equipment over Russian in that regards anyways.

And for wartime use, I think the PLA would also prefer to use their own munitions rather than rely on foreign imports, which will be massively expensive given the amount of munitions they are likely to burn through in actual combat.

All in all, a very very far fetched idea, which is why I said it’s just a piece of artwork not to be taken seriously.

Z8C night landing on ship #845.

According to my file photo, PLAN ship #845 Qingzhou is a type 081 minesweeper without helicopter landing deck. So the puzzle is which ship is this? From the photo, the landing deck is similar to that of type 072 LST.

A ship-borne helicopter lands on the helipad of a warship during a round-the-clock training exercise on landing and taking off from the ship's helipad on September 7, 2022. The training was jointly carried out by the units from a naval search and rescue flotilla under the PLA Northern Theater Command and the PLA Naval Aviation University. I have observed the same before in July when an 072A LST carried the hull number 974 which was previously carried by an older Type 079 LST. I suspect this is just more re-numbering going on, same as with the large Type 901 AOR. However in regards to the Type 072A its kinda interesting as construction is ongoing and its a little hard to track how many new ones they are building. Ie is ist just to replace older LSTs or are they increasing the fleet.

We are lacking a lot of information in the noise departement... I would clearly like to hear a Z10 passing by. We got some good video in Ukraine with a mi-28 passing followed by a ka-52, and the ka52 is surprisingly quiet. Z-19 with it's fenestron tail is probably quiet too, the Z-10 with a conventional tail is probably a lot less. For a shore attack from the sea, I would like a quiet helicopter a lot more than an heavier one.
