"A group that has been a driver of innovation.
The trend, driven in part by what many of the scholars describe as an increasingly hostile political and racial environment, has caused the Biden administration to work with scholars of Chinese descent to address concerns."

I love how this crappy journals just try now to appeal to Chinese scholars and students after article over article of McCarthyistic crap and publishing story after story about Chinese professors being spies without any single shred of evidence. GARBAGE MEDIA LIKE THE WSJ ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS, NOT JUST THE IDIOTS IN D.C., they wont even question, they just publish their bullshit without caring about the reputation of the person who is being falsely accused.

Convictions reversed for US chemical engineer accused of hiding China ties

Judge acquits Feng ‘Franklin’ Tao on three of four charges — another blow for the US government’s former China Initiative programme.

A federal judge has reversed three of the four convictions handed down to US chemical engineer Feng ‘Franklin’ Tao by a jury in April. Tao, who is on unpaid leave from the University of Kansas (KU) in Lawrence, was accused of hiding ties to China. He is thought to have been the first academic researcher arrested under the China Initiative — a controversial US government programme that ran from 2018 to 2022 and sought to protect US laboratories and businesses from economic espionage.

The reversal follows a string of failures by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) to bring strong convictions under the umbrella of the China Initiative, and could mark a new chapter for the US scientists of Chinese heritage

This extends beyond just the scholars.

If you just look in the chip designing sector
LeapFive (RISC-V designing firm) -> Dr Aglaia Kong, Corporate Network CTO at Google and IoT Solution VP/CTO at Cisco
StarFive (RISC-V) -> Thomas Xu , 11 years at HP
Biren Technology -> Lingjie Xu, GPU architect at Nvidia, AMD and Samsung

Those are just off the top of my head. I read a lot more cases of this where former employees of American firms went back to China to work in startups and get crowdfunding.

Interesting, I think there is also the bamboo ceiling issue were Chinese have trouble climbing up in the ranks of Western companies to the point is easier to create an startup in China that there is to be a high ranking executive in one this companies.

Can you imagine what would happen to Chinese Americans if US and China went to war. If US sailors or marines are killed in the pacific. If you think racism and violence against Asians are bad now, wait until war starts.

With Russians, you can’t tell if they are Russian unless they start to speak Russian. Asians are easy targets. The bullying that will happen in school, etc…

All Chinese people should take self-defense classes.

What we really need is advanced skin augmentation technology. We all know that Gordon Chang is willing to spend his life’s savings just to get one.
