Can someone translate this?

The turbine seems like it's for Marine application. CGT25-D by CSIC Longjiang GH TURBINE Co. Ltd. A 25 MW turbine used for small-medium applications. It's self developed by the company. The company also is a local component supplier for Zorya Mashproekt / Hitachi products.

The Russians are using it for natural gas pipelines.

The complaints are coming from China-haters bashing China about "can only copy, no innovate" and some Chinese nationalists who want the new OS to have every single thing "Made in China"

There is too much butt hurts in the world.

Some people do not want China to succeed, and when they figure that Huawei is being impeded, they are heartened that this active effort at impeding extends to all of China, trying to prevent its rise.

When their inane plans do not pan out, the frustration and bitterness reveal themselves in sour grapes and butt hurt.

The best strategy here I feel is for the Chinese side to rub it in. If they want to play these games then China is obligated to play too.

The United States had a worldwide monopoly on cell phone O/S and they gave that away. They gave that away!

Now those bozos sound off, all butt hurt. We can hear them laughing all the way from China, China, China, Chyna!

Someone uploaded a pure OpenHarmony v2.0 allegedly having no AOSP code in it on bilibili and some other folks have reuploaded it on youtube. Looking at the footage it looks like the HiSilicon designed developer board with a touchscreen attached to it.

edit: they also had a part 2

A very interesting and good case study on how both the US and China competed in the new and emerging solar energy industry with its own brand of industrial policy, respectively. The US lost spectacularly in the end with long-term implications. The report has its usual gripes about Chinese state subsidies and cheap loans, popping up unprofitable operations and, no surprise, Xinjiang forced labor. The usual western nonsense, you know. But IMO, they're more than balanced with quotes from industry analysts and many facts. In the end, the readers couldn't possibly walk away without the sense that the China had beaten the US, fair and square, in this strategically important industry.

There are larger implications too, with the US and China are now competing in one after another strategic industries such as 5G, electric vehicles, semiconductor etc. The lessons and experiences gained in this particular industry give a lot of insights into how the two countries compete systematically and how they will likely to in their future endeavors. It's a good read.

Note: I wasn't sure if this report should better filed under this thread or the Chinese Economics thread or other thread.

Making an entirely new OS is mind-blogging complex, difficult, time-consuming and expensive.

There is no reason why Huawei shouldn't use ASOP in order to speed-up its development time

The complaints are coming from China-haters bashing China about "can only copy, no innovate" and some Chinese nationalists who want the new OS to have every single thing "Made in China"

Thankfully, Huawei is smarter than these people and is using open-source projects to its advantage.

As I said the Android thing isnt important. Whats important is their Super Device and Service Center systems. Groundbreaking stuff there
Are you kidding here? The whole point of the new OS is to avoid illegal sanctions. In order to do that they need to avoid using any parts of android totally.

I don't know much about software and have no ability to assess software, but according to my understandings from HUAWEI's explanations and reports, HUAWEI doesn't claim they don't include any Android on their devices. Android is necessary for usability and compatibility with legacy apps until native HarmonyOS apps grow enough. It's not the new HarmonyOS itself that runs Android APKs, but the Android compatibility layer or components which HUAWEI included in addition to HarmonyOS that runs them. You don't sound like you are speaking from software knowledge or from actually inspecting HarmonyOS software-wise.
All they need is the android compatibility layer, which is open source anyway.

Meet Ollie: Tencent's wheel-legged robot capable of 360-degree flips

Phate Zhang June 3, 2021

After announcing its quadrupedal robot three months ago, Chinese tech giant Tencent has brought out a new robot called Ollie.
On June 3, Tencent's wheel-legged robot Ollie was unveiled, a new robot from Tencent's Robotics X Lab that is the latest demonstration of its nonlinear control technology, whole-body dynamics control, and trajectory planning technology.

As the latest achievement in the frontier of robotics research in recent years, Ollie has both wheeled structure and legged capability to adapt to uneven ground, complete jumping steps and other actions.

According to Tencent, Ollie, with a minimum height of only 35 cm, can jump up to 40 cm steps. It has a vertical jump height of up to 60 cm, and can even easily complete a 360-degree flip challenge.

Ollie can change height when passing through uneven ground, maintaining its own stability in the face of external interference. It can even maintain stability in the face of violent impact without falling.

Ollie is also capable of backflips, a difficult maneuver, and has a simple and dynamic structure with a parallel mechanism on one leg that forms a five-link structure with the body.

Ollie has the ability of trajectory planning. It will plan the trajectory in advance before the flip to maximize the performance of the joint motor to achieve the target movement.
It also has a third leg, which can increase the load in addition to enhancing the balance of the body and provide additional angular momentum to complete high dynamic flips and other actions to store energy.
Ollie is Tencent's latest achievement in the field of robotics, and the research paper related to it has been included in the 2021 International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA 2021).
On March 2, Tencent unveiled Max, the first multimodal quadruped robot powered by its in-house developed hardware and software.
The robot can run, jump and jump over obstacles like an animal, and also glide on wheels like a vehicle on a flat road.

Max integrated Nonlinear Model Predictive Control algorithm, Quadratic Programming optimization, and soft control algorithm, which can complete the starting pendulum, balance anti-disturbance, and landing leg collection control from lying on the ground state to standing on two wheels, Tencent said.

No. The whole point of the OS is to create an app ecosystem that provides enough variety of applications.

Android is needed for its apks. Huawei has much right to Android project as it was a contributor.

App Gallery will have to shift away from apks altogether to make the big change complete. That seems to be an year or two away.
