News on China's scientific and technological development.

I'm reading articles from the US where they act as if China's operation system is going to fail and China will go back to Android. I don't think they know about the trade war part where the US forced this situation to happen. There is no going back to Android because it's not just a simple choice like choosing strawberry or chocolate syrup on top of your ice cream. Do they actually think China is going surrender to the US on everything just to be able to use Android? Just like China will not be able to survive without Australian coal? Or Paul McCartney holding a press conference to tell the world he won't be attending the Beijing Olympics thinking China will experience turmoil because he's not there? No this is the US's Pandora's Box they will not be able to close because they would rather believe no one can survive without them.
And 1.4 billion Chinese people is thinking who is Paul McCartney? And once they Baidu him, regret wasting 30 seconds because the songs all suck. Can we get a real celebrity please.. like dilraba... O ya she will definitely be there.

I don't know if this was true but apparently the Beetles were popular at some time in China hence why Paul McCartney thinks he has influence.

Definitely not true... Maybe in Hong Kong since it was a colony. No one in my grandparents or parents generation (50-90 years) ever heard of them. None of my cousin's (20-40) cared for them, mostly just said it sounds like kid songs or noise to them lol

The more I look into it, the more I think HarmonyOS for the phone at it's current state is just a fork of Android Open Source Project and it has been modified with Huawei custom code including Huawei Mobile Serivces, EMUI, other improvements etc. Nothing wrong with that as there are many "OS" based on others , for example: FireOs, Ubuntu, MacOS. Some of us were expecting it to use a new micro kernal but I doubt it is the case if they are able to release this to 100 model of devices that are already out in the wild. There is some discussion there are various line of Harmony OS which indeed are using the newer micro kearnal or Huaweis origina OS such at the auto os or wearable/tv.

The problem I see is that Huawei's english marketing in some ways obfusticate the truth as it does not even contains an astriek in tiny print to indicate it is a fork. Harmony OS may be a completely new ecosystem from the ground up, joining all types of devices, but on the phone it is not technically a completely new Operating System. Maybe there is some error in translation or understanding in how "operation system" is usually used in the western context. IMO, this just allows westerners to add more ammo to the "lie"/"copy" narrative

Huawei will definetely wont admit that they are using android. There is too much on stake on admitting it outright.

They have danced around this issue many times but the truth is out for the people who can look a bit deeper. There was already a guy who straight up downloaded an Android APK from a website and the "new" HarmonyOS ran it immediately without any issues

I personally dont care about this stuff. What I care is their "Super-Device" and Service Center systems. IMO these are the big HarmonyOS guns that Huawei is bringing to the battlefield

Running an Android APK in HarmonyOS means nothing. You can run Intel apps on M1 Macs too, that doesn't mean the M1 CPU is an Intel clone

Running a android apk app is not that surprising that was if you ask me windows phone and tizen mistake.

But unless huawei comes out and open sources their micro kernel like Google did with fuschia it save to assume Harmony OS took AOSP as a base. And not the harmony micro kernel they were talking about. Maybe they only expected a software ban and not the extreme hardware ban so they had to change plans.

This comes with a considerable performance hit however.

Lets wait and see their benchmark results in comparison with android phones to see if their OS is truly new and not "new"

There is no way to emulate in whatever way a different OS with similar performance as the native OS

In Mac's case the CPU is totally different. APK are bytecodes, they are meant to run on top of a JVM. OS is irrelevant

You have to understand those "boomers."

After World War 2, and all the American G.I. Joe returning home, there was a baby boom in America.

America was riding high in the world at that time, and this new generation being born become the majority in America at it heights a few decades later.

The boomer generation only knew growth, prosperity, America going up, their generation really was the best and brightest perhaps in all of human history.

Anything was possible for the boomers.

Nothing was going to replace the power, prestige, and influence of the boomers when they were in charge.

In the meantime, comrade Deng Xiaoping did the reforms.

Then the 2008 financial crisis happened.
