No this is more photonic radar lidar development news. Photonic radar preliminary units have even been made already. Not only in China but in Russia and Italy at least. Varying types of effectiveness, usefulness etc I bet but that's the direction this tech is heading.

China leads the world in quantum communications by far but it's something others can catch up on pretty quickly I imagine. It's physics and not trial and error material science which requires decades long experiences, mature and advanced industrial base, AND cultivated generations of talent - something China's only started building from the 1980s while the west have been building up since early 20th century.

India is gaining on quantum communications and started to develop both their infrastructure and organise their researchers. How well they'll do is another matter but it starts with organisation.

China co-leads the world in quantum computing with the US. US is probably ahead based on English literature available for publication.

Photonic/ quantum radar? Huge military applications that will revolutionise military sensors from aircraft to guidance and satellites. Can only imagine how much funding and talent is being poured into this field in China since the turn of the millennia. These principles are well understood in theory and China's spent the last 20 odd years building its quantum tech - comms and computing. First to transport information faster than light speed. First quantum comms satellite. Most advanced and impressive quantum comms tech and this is all reported stuff. The unreported stuff would be 10 years ahead of today's.

I think you misunderstand quantum entanglement. Information doesn't go faster than light.

I thought because entanglement information travels faster than light speed (instant), that carries over. That's the part I meant by faster than light. The information being transferred. Whether you observe or state on earth and over at Pluto's surface, the state is instantly changed whereas broadcasting a signal will reach Pluto after more than 20 minutes.

You are talking about making an observation of spin and then knowing the other entangled particle has the opposite spin etc. But you don't get to determine the spin, you merely observe it. So this cannot be used to send information faster than light. ie future Mars colony will still not have instant communication even with quantum entanglement. The speed of light is really the speed of causation of the universe, the rate of cause and effect... in order to send information you have to cause something and then the delay of propagation is how fast that effect takes place over distance... so light, being of no mass, is unimpeded by the higgs field and it goes at the ultimate speed allowed by the universe...

Gotcha. But the "response" in entanglement is still instantaneous right? It's just that there is physically no way to make the communication device faster than light speed but the action of entanglement is faster than light. Perhaps this is where the source of misunderstanding comes from.

Anyway I'm referring to the first instance in human history of using entanglement to communicate information. It's since expanded to encrypted messaging and offer substantial improvements over existing comms technologies not only for privacy reasons. Of course the devices themselves aren't exactly able to be delivered for widespread commercial applications like phones are for example. It's just a field that China leads in at the moment.

so if I understand this correctly, you entangle a set of particles(A and B). Then send one(B) of the particles to its destination at the speed of light, once that particle(B) is at its destination. The people can make an observation of the spin(B) and know that the other particle(A) has the opposite spin. If particle A changes it spin a new particle B has to be send to communicate this new state?

I think that China should start a big domestic media campaign to basically say that the Chinese people have being humilated from the West because they cant build advance technologies

I think that if the CPC managed to make the collective Chinese people feel such a big humilation, without fueling too much nationalism, about their inability to build some technologies, it would massively pressure the Chinese society which would in turn massively accelerate R&D in the country


I am a big believer that with extreme pressure, humans can truly outperform themelves. See example of the technological developments made during WW2 and the Cold War. I think that China should emulate the US Cold War spirit (without focusing on aggression) on the whole society level to jump start its R&D and drive breakthroughs on science and technology.

Huawei says it wants to start making 6G commercially available around 2030, in what may be the first time a Chinese tech giant has proposed a clear timeline for the commercialization of next-generation communications technology.

On April 12, Huawei held a global analyst conference. Xu Zhijun, Huawei's vice chairman and rotating chairman, mentioned this timeline when explaining Huawei's overall strategy at the conference.

In June 2020, Huawei entered into a strategic partnership agreement with China Unicom and Grandstar Cargo to jointly develop 6G connectivity. Huawei has also established a 6G R&D center in France.

In addition to Huawei, another Chinese communications giant, ZTE, has also been developing 6G. ZTE has said that the company's pre-research team is gradually overcoming various key 6G prototype technologies.

In response to investor questions on Dec. 28 last year, ZTE said again that the company has invested in 6G R&D and is actively engaging in exchanges and cooperation with industry peers.

China's 6G development is accelerating, driven by Huawei and ZTE.

Many local operators, equipment suppliers, terminal suppliers, and other interested companies have released 6G white papers and made some 6G layouts and predictions.

In November 2020, China launched an experimental 6G communication satellite, enabling the world's first terahertz wave space research and development. This makes China's 6G research a step further.

6G communication is no longer limited to terrestrial communication. As a result, terrestrial communication networks will be connected to communication satellites for global signal coverage on land, in the sea, and in the air. At that time, there was a smooth signal in areas off the beaten path such as the ocean, deserts, and deep mountains.

Compared to 5G, 6G will be 50 times faster and latency will be greatly reduced. This will also lead to further development of telemedicine and tele-education.
