Sorry to dredge this up from the distant past, but I just had to say I'm elated that you failed. May you meet nothing but abject failure every time you try to convince a Chinese scholar or student to stay in the US.

If that’s the case, I’m in deep deep trouble...

They respect sea turtles. You'll be fine. If all else fails, try Hong Kong. If somehow that doesn't work, try Europe. The US doesn't deserve any Chinese talent powering its science or technology.

That's true. However I've heard that competition is getting fiercer because more and more of them are returning so localizer should probably strike the iron while it is hot.

Does Tencent accept sea turtle software engineers? Saw in news that Huawei no longer hire US citizens so guess that would be a no go. But seems that there is already a large pool of software engineers in China, and the competition would be incredibly tough.

I don’t think the sea turtles are as hot as before. The sea turtles have become seaweed long time ago...

Late 1990’s and early 2000’s was the good time for sea turtles. So many of them went back and plus the domestic competition. They became seaweed around 2010... I don’t know what they are called now.
