300-megawatt F-class heavy-duty gas turbine prototype with the highest power and highest technical level independently developed by China has completed its final assembly and rolled off the production line..​


on February 28 that today, the first prototype of the 300-megawatt F-class heavy-duty gas turbine independently developed by China rolled off the assembly line in Shanghai Lingang. It consists of 5 major systems and more than 50,000 parts. It is the first time in China that The independently developed heavy-duty gas turbine with the highest power and highest technical level is an important milestone in the independent innovation and development process of China's heavy-duty gas turbines..

Officials pointed out that the rollout of the first prototype marks the first time that my country's high-power heavy-duty gas turbine has completed the entire manufacturing process based on forward design and has fully entered the final stage of complete machine testing and verification.

According to reports, the 300-MW F-class heavy-duty gas turbine that went offline this time was developed by more than 200 companies, scientific research institutes, universities, etc. from 19 provinces and cities including Beijing, Liaoning, Shanghai, and Jiangsu. Based on key core technologies such as control system design, component and complete machine design, and hot-end component manufacturing, it is the first time in China to independently design and manufacture high-power heavy-duty gas turbines!

What other countries have the capability to do that? my guess is Germany, USA and possibly UK and France

Heavy duty commercial gas turbines. Japan , USA , Germany , Italy , France and UK.. but UK has very minimal market share. French company Alstom bought by GE for whopping $17 Billion and their CEO was arrested just like Huawei..

this industry dominated by three giants for long, USA, Germany and Japan.

now China entered in this industry..

indigenous 300MW F-Class heavy duty gas turbine has completed, prototype being manufactured and will come online by early next year.

China basically completed localization of E and F class heavy duty gas turbines.

now the real deal. H-Class turbine-

the conceptual design and hot-end three major components of 400MW H-Class heavy duty gas turbine completed. compressor and high temperature components bench test has started.

indigenous 400MW H-Class heavy duty gas turbine will come online by next year end..

this is interesting, I think we are going to have to see. Certainly growing competitiveness of a Chinese heavy duty gas turbine that can do combined cycle will give a jolt to China's natural gas power generation
