That is most certainly NOT Tiananmen. It looks like a crude replica at some military base where they men are training for the parade.

I don't know if you're being serious, so I'll point out that's why he said, "Mock".

If you weren't being serious, then never mind.

The PLA is showing more details of the latest variant of the Type 99, if that's the correct designation...

looks very beefy

regardless of the armour composition and effectiveness (I suspect the new Type 99 employs various ERA, laminate, and composite armours) the LOS looks very nice, probably 1m+ all around in the frontal arc

The silly-looking Soviet style headgear must go.
The 'silly-looking' Soviet style headgear is actually preferred option for tank operators in PLA. They tried to introduce 'western style' helmet design over ten years ago. But, the feedback was not as convenient as the old Soviet style ones. The main reason is that in the summer it is much more comfortable to wear inside tanks. The old ones suited most of Chinese climate better. You may ask if it's the case why other countries in the west where the summer season is also quite humid and hot are not adapting the Soviet design. Well, I guess since they are used to their own gears there's no need to made any changes. Likewise, Chinese are used to their own style.
