Subsidy should only be provided to new energy vehicles, and especially non-Japanese brands.
you can't issue subsidies that says "only non-Japanese brands". NEV subsidies are fine. They've had them for a long time, but all that does is just giving manufacturers more room to cut prices. At some point, you have to let noncompetitive companies fail.

China has a lot more car companies than available in most countries. I know the regional governments won't like it, but consolidation was bound to happen, especially after they opened up the market to external competition. The government will have to help ensure the transition is as smooth as possible for the workers involved. At least BYD decided to expand its fabrication facilities to other locations in China, if more companies do that, then some job losses in the overall sector might be mitigated.

I can't wait. This to me is this year's Seal

BYD having a great motor show in Bangkok. Already delivered 11,539 Atto 3 as of March 20th. Dolphin got put on the Thailand market. They displayed quite a few models including Denza D9. This again will raise the profile of Chinese technology in all of ASEAN.
