Bangkok motor show has started and BYD Dolphin was unveiled to the market at around $23K. Very good entry level price point for new buyers. And you can see, it is really trending in Thailand. BYD is killing it in Thailand

Not a big fan of this actually, they are extending partnership with Nvidia to put Orin on more car models

Li Qiang is visiting BYD factory in Hunan (I assume Changsha plant). BYD gets a lot of politician visiting. A lot of political support.

Weichai power using blade batteries for its new commercial vehicles. I'm pretty sure that I posted this somewhere before

A couple of notes about the current state of the Chinese market. I think we are at the point where ICE demand is collapsing. Wealthy buyers are realizing the resale value of their ICE cars are dropping to nothing, so they fled to NEVs even as ICE prices are collapsing.

BYD, Tesla and LiAuto new orders have been okay, but everyone else has been bad

Local gov't are issuing stimulus to combat the lack of sales.

Also, Mitsubishi is really finished in China. Dealers can't sell their cars and they don't have new offering

28 sodium ion gigafactories operating, under construction or being planned. Nearly all of it is in China.

this kind of report by western publications are useless and waste of our time. I bet you they have no idea how many battery factories are actually planned by BYD and some of these other battery makers.
Both Geely and NIO want to double NEV sales in 2023.

They can say a lot of stuff, but there is this thing called reality. The reality is that sales are way down this month as people are waiting to see how long the discounts will go.

As CarFan said, only BYD, Tesla & LiAuto are seeing okay sales numbers vs last month.

The government should provide additional subsidy right now, rather than wait. BYD has the capacity to sell more than 3 million this year. if the government procrastinates, it is hard for any car automobile maker to make up their sales in the second half of the year. A lot of capacity is being wasted right now.

no, government should allow these weak companies, mostly legacy JVs fail, so that strong domestic NEVs can snatch them up. It's not China's problem that VW, Toyota & Honda are losing sales.

I don't know why, but Geely decided to start another brand called CaoCao. This is for Robotaxi or just ride hailing cars in general I guess.

Also Mitsubishi denies they are exiting Chinese market. okay.... under 1500 sales in first 2 months.

Subsidy should only be provided to new energy vehicles, and especially non-Japanese brands.
