Sponsor by whom? The first time I came across this Japanese who's married to a Chinese lady in China and is residing in China was about his documentary on Wuhan regarding the Corona virus. I thought that documentary was well made, and put the emphasis on the strengths of the people in Wuhan during the most challenging time battling Covid-19. Unless, you have some proof that this documaker has been implicated for working with Japanese intelligence then by all means am interested on seeing that. But if you don't kindly refrain yourself from chastising people who views his work as is rather than choosing to view his work through a lens of the filmmaker being Japense = evil and enemy. That's f..d up.
