Well, that's the wrong way to produce hydrogen then. There are ways to produce hydrogen without carbon. This beats all the carbon burning power sources in long run.

Making hydrogen production more efficient and more env-friendly is one side of the coin. The other is to find and test the right use-cases. I don't see why these two tasks cannot go in parallel.
If you can produce hydrogen without carbon emission, then you can also use that hydrogen and produce synthetic fuel without carbon emissions like Fairandunbiased said in #1078. Synthetic fuels can be burned in existing engines and transported using existing infrastructure. There's really no reason to use hydrogen itself as a fuel.

Correct me if I am wrong. But these synthetic fuels are carbon-based, right? Burning such fuels will still emit CO2.

Yes, but if you use waste CO2 from other processes i.e. petrochemical industry, the overall CO2 emission balance is 0.
It's going to need a vision of a few decades into the future then. That vision will depend on whether and how urgent the human society must reach zero carbon emission.

At the same time, I think we should keep working on hydrogen power as an option. Think it as risk mitigation or investment diversification.

The problem is producing hydrogen cleanly. When that is solved everything else is solved. If you can't solve that then nothing else matters.

I love how it looks however the headroom space in the backseats is alarmingly low (a deal-breaker for me)

Check out this video (go to 7:30). Only 2 fingers space and take into account that Bjorn is not that tall..
All coupe hatchbacks share the same problem. If you are the driver and usually don't sit at the back seat then problem solved.

What about bringing family, relatives, friends, coworkers etc with you on the car?

If its only about you and your wife/gf and small kids then that's ok. But sometimes you might have to put adults into the backseats
