Whenever I think of Nio, I want to run my head into the wall. At one point, the stock price was $1.50 and now it's over $50 (was $55 last week), and this all happened within a year. If I had known to invest, I could be a multi-millionaire now. Yes, I know that nobody in his right mind would go all in on a company whose stock started at $10 and went to $1.50 and was on the brink of death but still, the missed opportunity to earn millions of dollars in less than a year while doing nothing, is all I can think about when I see Nio...
Yea, but you wouldn't have parked $20k there and sat back.

I bought in $10k when it was around $5 and sat on it. I also bought into XPEV at around $20 and LI when it listed.

It doing a bit of dive right now due to risk of de-listing from NYSE. Depending on how far it falls, I might buy a bit more. At current prices for NIO, we might be better off buying ARKK, ARKW, ARKQ, ARKG, SOXX, CQQQ and MCSMX.

From a psychological standpoint, the reason we aren't all millionaires is because we are not wealthy enough to look at $200k dismissively. It take that much "I don't give a shit" to have the conviction to turn your commitment into large capital gains. In essence, I guess I'm saying that the reason that we are not rich is because we are not rich.

Same but i bought Nio and Xpeng at $10 then sold everything at around $22~25 to put the money into bitcoins and crypto.
Not completely sure if it was the correct step given both options have doubled. Might buy some Nio again this month and just hodl and hope on a tesla like curve.
How do you play bitcoin? Are there funds or etf that allow you to do it?

Im not interested in Bitcoin or any crypto currency.
I invest to retire, I aim to hold anything I buy for at least 12 months, and usually longer than 3 years. You can play the options game, but that's too much work for someone with a full time job.

The Chinese EV and 5G enabled autonomous game is an inevitable horizon, it is too obvious not to buy.

I guess it's called value investing.

What 5G autonomous stocks you recommend? Been trying to get in 5g for awhile, nothing too interesting I can find.

CATL overtakes LG Chem to become No. 1 in power battery installations in Jan-Sept period-cnTechPost

From January to September this year, China-based CATL's power battery installed capacity surpassed that of South Korean power battery company LG Chem, ranking first in the world, according to a new report.
From January to September this year, CATL's power battery installed capacity was 19.2GWh, accounting for 23.1% of the total power battery installed capacity (83GWh). LG Chem ranked second with 18.9GWh installed capacity (22.9% of total installed capacity), according to a recent report by market tracking firm SNE Research.

CATL is the battery supplier of Chinese EV maker NIO, which established the Wuhan Weineng Battery Asset Co on August 18 with CATL, Guotai Junan Securities, and Hubei Science and Technology Investment Group Co to manage battery assets.

In the first nine months of this year, Panasonic of Japan ranked third with 17.6GWh of installed capacity, accounting for 21.2% of the total installed capacity.
Samsung SDI and SK Innovations ranked fourth and fifth with 5.1GWh (6.2%) and 4.6GWh (5.5%), respectively.
According to SNE Research, CATL, LG Chem, and Panasonic together accounted for approximately 67% of the market share in the first nine months of this year.

LG Chem and CATL are battling for the top position in the global electric vehicle battery market.
This year, LG Chem has been making vigorous efforts. LG Chem spun off its battery business in order to vigorously develop its battery business, seize the growth opportunity of electric vehicle batteries, and increase the value of the company and its shareholders.

The company officially spun off its battery business as of December 1 this year and established a new company, tentatively named "LG Energy Solutions", to focus on the battery business. After the spin-off, LG Chem will hold 100% of the equity in the new company.
LG Chem is one of Tesla's top battery suppliers. Initially, Tesla will use LG Chem's batteries in the Model 3 and later in the Model Y produced at its Shanghai super factory.
In November of this year, LG Chem signed an agreement with Tesla to supply batteries for the Model Y produced at the Shanghai Super Factory.
LG Chem plans to more than double the capacity of its factory in China that makes batteries for Tesla to meet growing demand from Tesla's Chinese business, Sina said Tuesday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

LG Chem is one of the battery suppliers to Tesla's Shanghai factory, and the company also plans to supply additional batteries it produces in China and South Korea to Tesla's factories in Germany and the US, the report said.

reported, adding that data on the ratio of nickel-cobalt-aluminum or nickel-cobalt-manganese in the cathode material is not yet clear.
If the report is true, then Huawei's choice of power battery technology direction for smart car components is the same as that of Tesla.

According to the report, on November 25, Huawei Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU and Consumer Business BG IRB completed their business restructuring, with their business management under the control of Huawei's Consumer Business Management Committee.
The Consumer Business BG IRB was renamed the Smartphone and Smart Car Components IRB after the reorganization and is responsible for investment decisions and portfolio management of the smart car components business.

On November 14, on CCTV, Changan Chairman Zhu Huarong said that Changan had partnered with Huawei and CATL to build a high-end smart car brand.
On June 22, 2012, Changan said in response to an investor's question: "The company's new energy vehicle battery mainly uses ternary lithium batteries, and the main suppliers are Zhejiang Wanxiang, LG, CATL, etc.".

The above report said that Huawei's cooperation with Changan is true. Although Huawei recently reiterated that it will not build the whole car, that does not affect its choice of ternary lithium batteries as the power battery technology direction of its smart car parts, the report said.
It is still unclear whether Huawei will develop a power battery management system.
