If that's the case, then the UNHRC should investigate the entire west for having the largest cumulative carbon emissions in human history. Bunch of hypocrites.

But I think the move is more likely aimed to pressure Saudi Arabia to agree to US demands and break with China...

That boat has sailed.

Saudi Arabia has made it clear to the world, that they want to diversify their future away from petrochemical industries.

China will help. BRICS will help. Solving political problems and peace in West Asia would most definitely help.

What exactly does the United States have to offer, compared to what China will provide, and has done lately for the region?

The United States overthrew the government of Iran. The United States overthrew the government of Iraq. The United States is still trying overthrow the government of Syria. The United States lead from behind for the overthrow of Libya a fellow oil producer.

Deng said it best. "We will teach Vietnam a lesson even if it cost Yunnan 25 years of development."

You need peace for development.

The Saudis have made it clear they want to diversify their economy, and it is urgent.

Prigozhin’s plane crash seemed to have slipped under the radar somewhat here. Consensus seems to be to blame Putin, but that just doesn’t make sense, and would indeed be pretty stupid of Putin if he put personal petty vendettas above national interests.

If Putin wanted to show how boss he was, he should have killed Prigozhin and all loyal to him during the coup. It would be a massive own goal to strike a deal and then go back on your word to seek revenge later. Who else will dare to make deals with you in the future if you do that?

Prigozhin’s political career is done, and Wagner has handed over all their heavy weapons and much of their troops have go over to the Russian MoD, what are left have been banished to Belarus. They are, frankly speaking, no threat anymore. Not to Putin at least. But what is Wagner very public thinking of doing just before this? Moving into Africa. And who is currently planning their own SMO in Africa?

The most basic process of investing a crime is to look at motive. Putin doesn’t really have a good motive, but certain western hostile powers have a massive incentive to clip Wagner’s wings and redirect their attention from their previous course?

As for opportunity, well, one can easily see that post coup, not only would Prigozhin no longer enjoy the same kind of Russian secret service protection as he would have before, he may even see such protection as suspect and actively avoid it. That would present an unusually easy opportunity for external intelligence agencies to tamper with his plane should they wish to do so.

As such, don’t be surprised if the Russian crash investigation reveals sabotage, and Prigozhin gets a hero of Russia treatment for being ‘assassinated by NATO’.

The complaint was filed both against Aramco and the banks who facilitated them like JP Morgan, Citigroup, HSBC etc.

Saudis have hand in so many things from having preference for Trump to Africa. so China will not be only factor.

why would they kill him during the coup when they can do proper investigation to see how far things are interconnected.
You miss this part. Prigozhin made mistakes in life. Its plural. and his primary dealing was in Africa. when you are dealing in such things than on other side most likely there will be Arabs. you never know what kind of intelligence they will have on him.
I dont think Prigo was educated for this complexity.

Putin described Prigozhin as a man with "a complex fate who made mistakes in his life," but who also "achieved the desired results for himself as well as for our common cause." He stated that Prigozhin worked in Africa in the trade of "oil, gas, precious metals and precious stones," noting that he had returned from Africa on the eve of the crash of the plane he was on board with a number of his companions, which fell in Tver province.

This is Chinese soft power, or CCP propaganda, or media, and I think it is first rate.

Because the message is positive, and all encompassing.

:D

Okay, what do you like better?

One Belt One Road ... or ... Belt Road Initiative?

Obvious, One Belt One Road is a far better slogan. In Chinese and in English. There is no comparison.

But after this BRICS summit where they unexpectedly announce new members doubling the group, all of the sudden, something has changed in the world.

Look at these two acronyms. Both have BRICS and BRI in it.

BRICS is a political grouping, to advance members interest in economy which also needs security and peace, and much of the groundwork for that economic component is being done via One Belt One Road initiative. In short the BRI supports and is underpinning the BRI in BRICS.

I never knew why would they replace One Belt One Road with BRI, the slogan. The Chinese love their literature, and there is no way why they would pick BRI over One Belt One Road.

After this week, now we know. That is long term thinking.

:D:)

That's not how it works. Prigozhin stopped his coup when he found that the Russian elite didn't line up behind him, remember the train of officials declaring their support for Putin. He simply didn't have the support he thought he did or deluded himself into believing he did. He "made a deal" because he didn't have a choice and Putin accepted because killing him then and there would have been too messy and bloody. Putin took his time plucking all Prigozhin's feathers before cutting his throat. He was a dead man walking the moment he launched his so-called march.

People will continue to make deals with Putin in the future because they have no choice, Putin has the monopoly on power in Russia. This isn't a car dealership where you go to a different brand if you don't like what's on offer.

It took the US this long to figure this out? Shouldn't they have done this homework before starting the all-out trade war with China?

Those advisors to the two POTUS are not worth their salaries.

I’ve been saying for a while. I don’t have an Ivy League degree like many of those advisors, but it wasn’t a secret that the Chinese companies were just moving their assembly plants in to Vietnam (and SEA) and Mexico.

So all of this I knew over the years as just a relative neophyte following business news. No PhD, MBA, whatever. I don’t believe that those White House people were not aware. It was always political theatre that Americans are literally paying for.
