Today the first permanent village in Yadong County, Doklam welcomes the first wave of residents. Tibans have long used Doklam as summer grazing ground. With permanent village now established Doklam will now turn over a into a new page in the history books.

The village cost 284,604,000 RMB (that's an investment of 440,000 per person, all paid by the state) to construct and will house 100 families totalling 450 people. The building are all double walled with insulation fill in between. Roof tills are UV resistant dark green polymer, all windows are double glazed to keep out the side of the river when closed. The village is at 2,073m elevation. Construction began in December 2019 and was delayed by 2.5 month due to pandemic and snowfall, but was completed 1 month ahead of schedule in September this year.
