Only the west can sort of afford that luxury
They can't. Not anymore. Something I predicted before yet people didn't believe. What you saw in capitol hill is just the tip of the iceberg. As I've said, take the wealth of Native America out, the entire America will become continent of cannibals turning on each other.

People often forget what money actually does. When you raise a generation with delusion that they can do anything they want, strippers, adult entertainers, street h***ers, all kinds of nasty things yet can get paid for it, that money is printed paper with out buying power. Money doesn't produce foods, it doesn't create gasoline that runs your car. Somebody has to do the actual work . In west with that so called life style, you can already see the distance between printed money & real goods is growing. I'm interested to see how they pay their bills with their values. Interesting time ahead.

"洋" actually translated into "foreign devils" and calling your adversary as "devils" has more meaning than mere disdain.
I mean in Chinese culture devil doesn't have the same extreme connotation as in Christian influenced cultures. 鬼子 by itself is like a diminutive way to refer to someone, doesn't necessarily have to be negative but when used towards strangers is almost always negative. I would say it is like "boy" in English.

"洋鬼子" means "Devils from the ocean". And yes, western people are Devils in our eyes, because they have yellow or red hair, with blue or green eyes. In Chinese traditional folklores, only 妖魔鬼怪 have yellow or red hair, and with blue or green eyes. So yes, they were the devils to Chinese.

There is a famous "dad joke" about Sun Quan, a king from the Three Kingdom period:
One person say to another person that "do you know, Sun Quan has green eyes and purple hair (碧目紫髯)!", the other person exclaims: "Is he a devil!?"

By the way, there is a historical term for these foreign devil since the Mongol Conquest, it's called "色目人".

There is much more of such things:
Back in the Eastern Jin dynasty (317-420 CE), a powerful aristocrat named Wang Guo, called the Emperor Ming of Jin as "黄鬚鲜卑奴",meaning "Yellow hair Xianbei slave/barbarian". It is believed that he looks like that because his mother was a non-Han Chinese, probably of the the more Caucasoid looking nomad tribe/ethnicity.

Xianbei (鲜卑)was one of the nomadic tribes that invaded China during the decade of chaos from 304AD to 316 AD. This crisis is called the "Invasion and rebellion of the five barbarians" (五胡亂華). It was NOT uncommon that devilish looking Caucasoid people intermarried with Han-Chinese. There is A LOT of these nomads coming in. There are even records that shows that they f**king ate Han Chinese women/girls. These Barbarian nomad cannibals referred to young Chinese women as "二脚羊" (two legged sheeps). They raped and ate women. Yes they did, and they deserved to be called devils and they deserved to be wiped out later on.

So there you have it. “洋鬼子” is pretty mild, compare to how we Han Chinese used to call foreign devils during those much worse days. I guess Westerners are offended because they thought that other people should have no problem recognizing them as civilized and non-barbaric. Well, to each their own.

In the West, those are called feminists.

Not much has changed nowadays unfortunately, you still have caucasoid barbarians raping young girls; these are called sexpats and US soldiers.

It is now clear that if you are Muslim in Narendra Modi’s new India you can be arrested for selling shoes, taking part in a protest, talking to or walking with a Hindu girl, driving a cattle truck, cracking a joke – or not. If you are a Muslim in the wrong place at the wrong time, the Constitution means little and the law can be twisted in any manner to imprison you.

Apartheid. India is going to be run to the ground by Modi - you can't run a nation on nationalism alone. It doesn't fill stomachs.

Another Indian media take on the same Chinese village story. This summary of sub-headlines best summarizes the article:
View attachment 67804

China entering 60-70km into Indian perceived territory is quite some distance. The average 'width' of Arunanchal Pradesh is roughly 140-150km according to Google Maps.

Off-course, the actual layout of Arunanchal Pradesh (AP) is much more complex. But for layman's POV, lets see what if BJP Tapir Gao's claim is taken as correct. That China is building that village around the halfway point of AP. That's would be quite deep into Indian claimed territory of Arunanchal Pradesh. If China were to use that village as a border point, that would split AP into half across its length. There is a lot of Indian settlements who could be falling into Chinese territory. Tawang would fall right inside China's territory. LOL! Although I would agree to China doing this. I doubt that China would do something this provocative when tensions are so fever high. Those are not no-man's-land. Those are populated areas.

If you're on the side on India in this dispute, that must be alarming. That could have provoked a war. But all we hear is silence from the top leaders of India. So more realistically, I suspect that this village is not that deep into AP. Probably its on the edge of northern AP from the Chinese side. BJP Tapir Gao merely extended India's claim 60-70km into China. That greedy SOB. Its probably their typical media spin. Not unusual, since they have claimed before that all of Tibet belongs to India.

Chinese state media says the construction took place within Chinese territory.

And it looks pretty darn nice too.

I can only imagine Indian villagers looking at their neighbors getting brand new houses.
