Although many of us laughed at the many projects of India like they are jokes. However, we do hv to recognise that they do hv some industries that are very good... Or even better than China. Such as their pharmaceutical industries.

They have immense potential.

So China with leading economy in PPP ahead of US doesn't know what is happening outside..funny..India must know how to survive in Eurasia,its gradually becoming the sick man of Asia

I take back what I say about India pharmaceutical industries is better than China. But in some areas they still surpassed China, we need to face the truth.

"However, India has paid attention to promoting its pharmaceutical industry a lot earlier than China. This has directly resulted in a stronger pharmaceutical industry in India than in China. For example, India currently has a substantial number of key players whose capabilities are strong enough to compete full-scale in the international market; whereas so far none of the Chinese drug companies has reached the same level or even come anywhere close."

The attachment had more examples. Although it is not definite that India surpassed China in all areas in pharmaceutical, they do lead in some areas.

India gets around 80% of pharma raw materials from china.

China is only letting India have the more well known pharmaceutical industry. Most of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) used to produce drugs in India is imported from China. APIs from China are relatively cheap. This allows Indian drugs to be very price competitive. But most of Indian pharmaceutical products are still generic drugs. Not the patented drugs by the big pharmas in the developed countries.

Could India find APIs from elsewhere? Sure, but that I'll be more expensive. And this would drive down the price competitiveness of Indian drugs. Or if sourced locally, it'll be lower in quality.

If China wants to be nasty. It could easily divert those APIs to their local pharma industries. Push the Chinese pharmas to R&D better, and make Chinese drugs as price competitive as India's. That would make Chinese APIs more expensive for Indian pharmas, and introduce strong Chinese competition in the pharma market. That has the potential to wreck India's pharma industry. If India continues to provoke China, such a thing may just happen.
