Do you know if this use of WS13 engine on JF-17 will be either a prototype for testing or the start of mass production?

Block III is supposed to come out in 2016, so in context we can guess that WS-13 would be ready for deployment. Allegedly it has already been in testing on FC-1 for a number of years now.

But WS-13 must have something superior to RD-93 in order for PAF to make a switch. I wish I could speculate, but I know next to nothing about WS-13.

BTW how credible is the source being quoted? Can some Chinese friend care to tell me?

See the video above you'll find two different JF-17 models. The first one is apparently a newly design one. The back and the intake are different. What does this indicate? Is this the model of block II or future block III ?

It appears to be a two seater. I don't believe it's a blk II or III but a two seater. Maybe a JF-17B ?!?b

Why do you believe WS13 would be anymore 'successful' as WS10?

I understand Russian RD-93 engine's hot section is essentially all titanium, and the material is less exotic then what is found in later models of AL-31 engine. If the Chinese made the same trade off, and exotic Material science has been a hurdle in WS-10 development, then that might offer a reason why WS-13 would enjoy a smoother development path.

There's already some rumors from Pakistan side that JF-17 is being tested with WS13 currently. So, the VP's interview is in answer to the question when will JF-17 be exported with domestic engine, he said within 1 to 2 yrs. So I am assuming his answer is meant for mass production.
