Posted previously, but given that it's hard to search for, it's not a big deal. Note that the "fixed" J-20 canard set-up is far different from the canards implemented on the J-20.
But still, it would be a nice read to understand how canards would impact the overall stealth, and you can have a general idea on how canards might impact on J-20 despite some differences. Overall this paper is about the principles and overall rules of canards design impacts over aircraft stealth. It was also discussed previously...

The charts roughly imply a 2.5-5 dBsm penalty for canards, although there's definitely regions where the canard layout wins out vs a conventional layout. It's just that the canard stealth angles are different than tailed stealth angles, so that's a factor that has to be considered; i.e, can you keep your canard stealth fighter at an advantageous angle vs a tailed emitter, while keeping them out of their advantageous angle?

sorry, but which chart you are referring to? I can't find any chart imply a 2.5-5 dBsm penalty for canards?

Actual content: Minnie Chan got a hold of a rumor that the Chinese inaugurated a J-20B with TVC but WS-10 / AL-31F level engines. It's not strictly impossible; the J-20 platform would be much improved by TVC, but there's no other substantiation.

Well if the rumour is true and J-20 is using some TVC engine, it would be the WS-10 TVC as demonstrated by J-10 years ago. So it isn't a Russian engine which makes the article incorrect. Unless some are fitted with TVC WS-10 and some are fitted with AL-31. I thought all current J-20s are using WS-10 and have been for some time now? Or have I confused it with the J-10.
