What do You think: No. 2015 made its maiden flight on 19 December 2014 ... so a new maiden flight after this 9-month long pregnancy on 19 September 2015 could be an option !? :p

One of the guests on CCTV mentioned that they make these planes in batches..so I would imagine there be at least 4 in this batch, probably more if they are ready to induct

2011 - 2015 followed each other so fast it had to be a small batch. So I do expect another small batch. Normal sized batches ( what would that be - 12? ) from 2016 and initial operational capability from 2017, still with Al-31 or already with WS-15?

The next batch of a similiar size (edit: just see you want to see even 12) in just one year? That would be some crazy pace. And IOC in 2017 would be even more crazy.

If we see a operational J-20 in service in 2020 it would be already a stunning result with first flight and introduction in less than 10 years.

I am no photographer - is it the camera that is making the side missile bay stand out in such an apparent way? Almost as if the fit is not correct. That is my assumption anyway, that it is an issue with the exposure etc.

The F-22 only took around 8 years from first flight to Introduction. And the J-10 took around 7 years. So... if J-20 achieving initial operational capability in 7-8 years is not that stunning.

It's not out of the question to have a first small batch of J-20 with it's current engines hand over to the PLAAF for thest drive around 2017-2018(maybe not 12, but like 6-10 in a year is not really that big of a challenge if China wants the J-20 earlier bad enough), while continue to modify and improve her as better domestic engines are available in the future.
