It is common for China to sell Pakistan weapons better than itself equips.

Pakistan's A-5C, F-7P, and F-7PG were more advanced than what PLA had at that time.

Not true. F-7PG is a great dogfight but no BVR. J-8II was the only BVR platform that time with PL-11. Never sold.

J-10B is granted to PAF becos PLAAF is going to be equipped with J-20. By the time, PAF received J-10B(2013??), I bet J-20 shall also enter service with PLAAF..

PLAAF will still give the best to itself.

PAF evaluated J-8II but SAC screwed the deal up.
CAC was willing to integrate everything PAF wanted onto J-7 platform. given that it was obtainable from whomever willing to sell them.

As i.e. said, PAF doesn't want J-8II.

China in the past has been different from USA and USSR but instead resembles France. It sometimes exports the best stuff.

Yes, I already point out the F7PG - J7E example before. What I was saying is that precedent or not, it would be quite a favour for the PLA to ok the sale of the J10B to Pakistan at all because of how advanced it is.

When it enters services, it will be the most advanced and capable combat aircraft in service with the PLAAF. And will likely remain so until the J20 enters service, which can be anywhere between 5 and 10s away.

Since the PLAAF does have the J20 to look forward to, release of the J10B is a possibility. However there would be no reason to give them away for free unless Pakistan really did China a sold behind the scenes and China wished to return the favour. And I just listed the most likely examples of what that favour might be.

But all this might be moot if it is just the report that is wrong and that these planes are not being gifted, merely released for export.

I seriously doubt that, Iran was trying to buy j-8F but was rejected by PLAAF. The export version of j-8II was offer Russian radar and R-27 missile, not the PLAAF version.

I thought it was the other way around? Not very many countries showed interested in the export variant of the J-8II since it was too expensive for its capabilities. The Iranians also had some unpleasant experiences with the early export variants of the J-7.

this was back in the days when JF-17 was not available and when J-10 was completely off the limit. J-8F was as capable of an aircraft China could offer. And then, China was F-8IIM offered to the world. The story goes that Iranians wanted the version that PLAAF was flying, but they got rejected.

As for J-10B, let's wait and see what PAF's version looks like and how much they will pay (if anything). I really don't want to argue with anyone about this.
