More very large procurements for all service branches. New training uniforms, combat uniforms, hats, boots, insignia patches, pouches, visors, sunglasses, and other accessories. Depending on the service branch, these items are being ordered in the tens of thousands (for the Air Force) or hundreds of thousands (for the Army).

why would these cadets know much about marksmanship? I know some recruits are natural and hit the bullseye on their first tries. but these cadets are unlikely to ever touch a gun ever again once they go to their units, i imagine they are all technical staff.

or maybe this is meant to have them acquainted with new technologies they will work on?

Hey! LARPing is a universal desire. Don’t tell me you don’t want to look cool for a day or two.
On a more serious note, I’d imagine that these students are there to familiarize with the equipment used by the military, and infantry equipment is definitely part of that. From that, they can at least have some sort of sense of what the soldiers are using and generate more realistic solutions.
