India faces economic crisis as well as inability of defence manufacturers to scale up production. India obtained second hand Jaguars for salvaging earlier. The second hand Mirage purchase may be viewed under the same lens.
And yet their unhinge media keeps hyping up their country as some kind of a military Superpower that China is deathly afraid to cross. None of the western analysts seem or willing to eviscerate this hallucination in order to puncture this helium filled balloon called lunacy back into reality. It seems that India is a willing tool to be used as cannon fodders by the west against Chinese military.India faces economic crisis as well as inability of defence manufacturers to scale up production. I'm quite certain that the many new fighter types India announced is likely to hit the scenes quite later than insisted.
PLA fires ten time that on a bad dayIsn’t this more like drizzling fire? When firing unguided rockets for gods sake don’t fire just one or two of them.

Can't criticize India if India gains economic benefits from US for being just aggressive against China, can we? To be frank, from a purely India centric perspective, the current alignment is natural and desperately needed. And yet their unhinge media keeps hyping up their country as some kind of a military Superpower that China is deathly afraid to cross. @Xsizor Bro can I answer that, from what I see without any serious foreign threat and easy accessibility to purchase weapon abroad the Indian had become complacent, lazy and corrupt. And I can't blame them, I mean who is stupid enough to invade and inherit its problem. Its huge internal problem alone is a deterrent and its standing army and training is good for internal security. Can't criticize India if India gains economic benefits from US for being just aggressive against China, can we? The thing to note however is, even though India set up state defence companies like USSR did ( with USSR support and influence), it never completely emulated the USSR approach by raising competing firms. China has them.
Was it a lack of resources? For example, India has HAL - a state firm that builds fighter jets. It apparently has no competitors. China used to have Shenyang and Chengdu. Russia used to have Sukhoi and Mikhoyan.
I don't know why.
Merely adding more state defense firms to create competition will not solve the problem. India is losing best and brightest to English speaking world. stock market is already bigger than GDP aka financialization and that GDP itself composed of making virtual products. this is creating rising cost of living without rising standard of living with increasing import dependency. The thing to note however is, even though India set up state defence companies like USSR did ( with USSR support and influence), it never completely emulated the USSR approach by raising competing firms.
